Here we are in the year 2020 and it has been a tough year for everyone in the world. The world has changed as we know it and some have chosen to accept it and some chose to fight it, but whichever route you are on right now everyone has something to be thankful. So what am I thankful for? Well, I am thankful for a few things like my family, my co-workers, my job and lastly my health.

Let's start with what I am thankful for first which is my health and being alive. We all know the CoVid Pandemic is going on right now and since my job is considered essential we never once shut down because of the pandemic. I have been so far lucky enough to have stayed healthy during this crisis since I have worked since the crisis began. I am also thankful that everyone else I know has also stayed healthy during this crisis as well. I have a co-worker that always says "everyday I wake up that's a good day", and I happen to agree.

Next thing I am grateful for is my family. I am blessed to have parents that love me so much and are always there for me. I have a brother that is protective and even though he picks and drives me crazy sometimes he is always there if I need him and I am always there for him. I am thankful for my sister and her family and even though I will not be able to see them this Thanksgiving I am looking forward to seeing them for Christmas. Thankful for my aunts, cousin and his new baby son that are coming down for Thanksgiving and I will get to see for the first time since this whole pandemic. The last person in my family I am thankful for is my grandpa who is still alive and healthy even in his 90's. He just recently moved in to a senior living center which he has fought, but I know that it's the right place for him right now.

My job is the next thing I am thankful for because I still have one. Unlike a lot of people in this world I am an essential worker so my job has not changed except for some policies like wearing a mask at all times now. My job has become even more stressful because of the pandemic and at times I felt like my health was not being considered important, I always think about the people who lost there jobs. I may feel like that from time to time, but having a job especially since I have about 40 years until retirement age I am thankful for that. I do my best to help make someone's life easier because they may be the one having an even harder time than I am.

My co-workers are another thing I am grateful for because since this pandemic things are always up in the air. You don't know if someone will callout or get sick. I have amazing co-workers that will help me out whenever I need someone to. There have been some callouts at work and someone is there that I can count on to work if I can't do it myself. My manager at work had to go out because of this pandemic and he has been gone for 6 months now at least. I am basically running the store and I am learning as I go with no management training. Having co-workers that take some of the burden off of me has helped me survive this new adventure as acting manager.

One last thing I am thankful for and that is for everyone on Vocal. I am pretty new here so I am still trying to find my footing, but I am thankful to whoever reads one of my stories. Like it or hate it seeing that someone has read my story makes me happy. My goal in stories I have written or will right is to give inspiration, help and guidance to someone that may need it.

The year 2020 has been rough and unpredictable, but my hope is that everyone can find someway to have a great holiday stay positive that the future will get better.

Happy Holidays
