Just Be Thankful For Being You
A simple task was asked. What are you thankful for? Do you really want to know the first thought that appeared in my mind? Or do you want to know the other thoughts that appeared in my mind after I really thought about this question? I prefer to be 100% authentic when writing so I’m going to share with you my last thankful thought when I heard this question on what I'm thankful for which something that everyone should be more than grateful for.

Happiness in my own practice
What is happiness to you? Vocabulary.com defines happiness as, "feeling or showing pleasure or contentment" but it's something not so easily understood. The definition of happiness varies from person to person and can even change forms as we grow older but the feeling can remain the same. Happiness is enduring and understanding, enduring pain and hardships, not letting any outside force bring you down, and understanding the pain that the hardship brings is what happiness means to me but we all have a different view on what happiness actually is since we all strive to reach the “Island” or “Holyland” we believe in.

For Me, It's All About the Thankful Thoughts!
My parents have been joined at the hip for 42 years!! From them, came myself and my other 3 siblings (I'm #2). Two of my siblings are married, one has three children. I have one child of my own. So the number of people in my immediate family is twelve. We're going to call that my very lucky number because the first thing I am most thankful for is my family. This is a very common thing to be thankful for, as it should be. However, for me, it's on a whole other level!

Thankful Thoughts
Gratitude is something I return to time and time again - both in my writing and in daily life. It is also something I need to keep reminding myself about, as it does not come as naturally as fear, worry, and other self-preservation instincts. Instincts that served our species well when our ancestors had to survive in the wilderness of the ancient world.

Things to Be Thankful For
I'm thankful for my peaceful, drama-free existence in the present since certain people in my life moved countries, leaving me to my own devices using the free medical care for disabled people I hooked myself up with. I'm grateful for my body bothering to work right since I managed to control the acid reflux using Reiki tonight. I have realized I'm low at 4:00 a.m., without noticing so I may have to adjust my basal rates. I'm most of all grateful for my free medical care for low-income people since I managed to give myself the hook up with that.

Thankful from A to Z
Before 2020, I generally found gratitude in one of two forms. One would be a languid, relaxing daydream-y type of thankfulness. The bubbles of thanks that casually float to the surface of consciousness while you're sitting on the beach on vacation, or with a cup of coffee staring out at a sunrise thinking, Hmmm...I am so thankful to be here, to be alive... The purpose of this thought has no beginning and certainly no end...it often doesn't lead to any major life change. You just think the thankful thought and leisurely move on with the rest of your day.

Thank you, Corona.
I follow a powerful woman on Instagram named Rachel Cargle. The other day she posted a message she received where someone accused her of being unhappy and that she was just faking happiness. In response to the person, she wrote something along the lines of how she had experienced such heartbreak and hardship in her life, that she had a decision to make to find happiness in the little things and that she chooses to celebrate everything from a sunny day to a good book; things that may seem simple to many but that brighten her days.

Grateful for Kindness
Moments from the past twelve months to show what I am grateful for. January 4, 2020. 8:55 A.M. I was waiting at the bus stop, meeting up with friends and meeting up in the city. As usual, my bus was running late and I was worried I would miss the next train and stressing about being alone in the sketchy station. An old lady came up to wait next to me, and asked how I was.

Pandemics, Poverty, and Gratitude, OH MY!
My Dearest 2020, I must admit, when the idea of counting my blessings during your reign was first brought to my attention, the gratitude list that resulted was a rather small one. Okay, truth be told, it was non-existent. In my defense you must realize that up to this point, I had already spent countless hours creating lists. Numerous lists of my own all about you, your impact, and your faults. All of which were born from resentment, fed by tunnel-vision, and nurtured with current affairs via podcasts, news, and public opinion.

Finding Pandemic Pleasantries
“Hurry along with getting your directions and equipment so we can get out of here,” the boss of my boss pops into the conference room in the middle of March. There was already a date set for all of us to start teleworking, but we have to pack it up early because someone in our building got sick and had tested positive for COVID-19. The talk about this virus never occurred to me in my brain that this stay at home lock down was actually going to be happening. There were emails coming to me from my school about how we were going to be switching to online classes, but I just thought that was a worst case scenario that would never actually happen. Here I was though sitting right in the middle of the worst case scenario. Teachers scrambling to make online lectures, work figuring out how we are going to have our meetings, and everyone grabbing at the hand sanitizers in their pockets or purses after touching every door knob.
