happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
I am Single with 4 Children & 1 Dog but Smiling (throughout lockdown & beyond)!
Yep, time is a precious commodity. There won’t ever be more than 24 hours in a day and an 8 day week remains a mythical dream. Suddenly though, today, right now, time is smacking us in our faces. Smacking us with a jovial, street kid’s back at ya hand gesture. Time is apparently unexpectedly abundant. No more commutes, no school runs, no entertaining, no hair-dressers’ appointments, no gym, nowhere to go. And yet 2 weeks into lockdown the patchwork of faces on my Zooms are looking more frazzled, weary and burnt out than ever. What’s up with this new normal and why aren’t we all reconnecting with our spiritual cores, rekindling our long-forgotten hobbies and fitting in quality time with the kids as those idealistic bloggers suggest we should be?

My 2021 Fresh Start
2020 was… a lot. On a global level, there was the Coronavirus Pandemic. People started getting increasingly sicker in February and countries were entering lockdown by March. It was a scary time filled with much uncertainty and fear. On a national level, the stress of the pandemic was exacerbated by political unrest and economic upheaval. 2020 became marked by the fear that the United States was on the precipice of losing its very heart—democracy.

Living Alive
My alarm sounds. Gosh, how I hate that sound. A couple weeks ago, I changed the tune of my alarm to a new song that I really like. Now, my bleeding ears can hardly handle the misery of that accursed tune. I sigh. Another day of feeling exhausted. What's happening on my phone? Messages from work. My stocks are down. Another friend flaunting their vacation pics. I wish I could go on vacation.

Shift Happens!
2020 was like no other and looking at the way all things stand in the world today as we enter 2021 with the virus, politics, financial insecurity, health, openings and closings of small business, inability to see and be with family and love ones surely looks like a nightmare we all have been going through and still waiting to end.

Fresh Start for Humanity
For my new years resolution I decided to try and my hardest, to be the change I want to see in the world. It all starts with you I tell myself, think about it with me for second. If you could wake up every day with a smile on your face, happy no matter what life throws at you? Isn't this what we should strive for? Be the change you want to see in the world by making the correct choices each day. Life is hard and everyone is dealing with something, some just hide it better. If everyone started to learn about themselves more instead of keeping tabs on everyone else, well the world could start turning around. This world doesn't need more gadgets or faster computers or anything else money can buy. It needs LOVE, but the love that only comes from you first by being that change you want to see in this crazy world we live in.

From Solitary Reflection to Wild and Free, Cyclical Me
2020 was a year of deep shadow work, self-reflection, personal growth, dreaming big, and learning to be comfortable in solitude. Now 2021 breaks through the silence with huge energy shifts that call us out of our shells and beckon us to get ready for the year ahead. I sense big changes brewing below the surface, about to emerge.

Short introduction to my mind
Too many words while time doesn’t stop. who am I? An Undefined mess in progress. I got a big list of wants. In my mind, I should have had it by now. Why couldn’t I just have grown up with everything I wanted, and to turn into who I want to be. But if that were to have happened, nothing in my life would be real. It would mean nothing.

Service
I once worked at a customer service call center for a building products manufacturer. As part of the training process, I received a plant tour and was able to watch the assembly of a ten-and-a-half foot siding tool. It was awe-inspiring to watch them assemble the tool.

The Kindness Revolution
So, here’s the thing. I’ve been a fan of KINDNESS for a long time. I’m a long time believer in the impact of small, seemingly insignificant acts of kindness. I love finding ways to spread kindness. I love hosting “Kindness Challenges”on my Instagram from time to time, encouraging people to intentionally be kind to someone for no reason. In addition, I started an IGTV series called COFFEE+CREATIVITY, where I talk ALOT about kindness and how it can fuel our creativity (while drinking a cup of coffee, of course). A couple of years ago, for my birthday, I hosted a fundraiser for CHARITY:WATER, an amazing organization helping countries across the globe get access to clean water. The event took place at a cycling studio where my friends and I sweated it out while raising money for people to have access to clean water. But recently, I was the recipient of some kindness and it impacted me in a big way: it reminded me of the huge, revolutionary effect a small act of kindness can have. I’ve attached here an episode of my previously mentioned IGTV series where I discuss this stranger’s kindness (start at 0:48)!
