Morning Yoga
The alarm begins to chime, rousing me abruptly from dreamless sleep. The peaceful piano notes, which seemed so soothing when I chose the tune, hammer on my ears like a gavel on a bench. It can’t possibly be time to wake up yet, I grumble to myself, I just went to sleep. But the clock doesn’t lie, it is time to start the day.

I admit, I love to s(silent h)it.
Picture this, you’re at work during a busy day, hair raining down your face from stress, your manager screaming and there’s a weird smell emanating from a nearby desk. Or, and don’t get mental whiplash, you’ve just finished running five kilometres around your neighborhood, and the kids are calling for dinner.

You Think You Know Me.
I honestly do not know most people think that they know me. I just learned how to love myself first before anyone else, so for those individuals that think they know me well, I have good news for you because you don’t. Don’t keep assuming something about me without even taking the time to communicate with me first. I respect all human life, but if you think that just this fact alone permits you to invade my inner peace and space, you have no idea who you are dealing with when all you have to go on is that we were acquainted with each other a time or two. I am by nature a giver, and because I am a giver, most people tend to think that it is okay for them to cross the lines. Listen, I have put those lines out there so that you can see and understand the women. My past is not pretty, but at the same time, I am glad that the dirt that has and is currently still being thrown on and at me is growing the seeds that I have already planted positively. Think about it like this, every spring, the flowers and trees bloom, right? So keeping this in mind, you have to keep the seeds in soil or dirt and then water it as much as possible so that the kernel can bring out beautiful flowers. I am using the seed metaphor as an example to show that we all have had dirt throws our way, but if we could change our way of thinking about the soil, we will be amazed at what you have grown.

Overcoming The Personal Problems
We face hardships that test our zeal for life and the world: wounds, sickness, unemployment, sadness, separation, the end, new things and a hidden future. In the event that we need to be fully present and enjoy life and be compelled in all daily life, we must look to the real world. At a time when we are allowing ourselves to be guided by real standards, we are promoting a deeper power to manage health.

Embrace the Creative Process: Staying Creative Feeds the Soul
I’ve always enjoyed being creative ever since I was little, often drawing or creating stories. Writing and art have always been my favorite classes in school. I took many art electives in high school, mainly focusing on 2-D media like drawing, as I enjoyed doodling and sketching my favorite characters. I’ve always adored stories, whether inventing my own or reading others’ (many summers I would read at least one book a day). As I moved on to college, studying art education, I began delving into the realm of 3-D media. I probably took around ten ceramics courses as well as a handful of collage jewelry courses and a fibers class. Getting into the creative zone always calms my mind and soothes my soul. The rest of the world and life’s hectic demands melt away. Thoughts drift in and out of my awareness, and it’s when I’m in this zen state of just being that inspiration and insight emerge. Flashes of intuition strike, often suddenly, crystal-clear, like it should have been obvious all along. While activities like “Netflix and chill” are nice for relaxing, it just isn’t the same as mindfully crafting something. There’s just something that such activities lack. Creating mindfully and intentionally is truly fulfilling.

The Journey to Inner Peace
Each and every person in the world has their own activity that brings them inner peace. For some people, that activity may be death defying adrenaline spiking stunts. For others, that activity may just be as simplistic as yoga. Some call people crazy for participating in activities such as sky diving, saying that how could something so terrifying bring them inner peace. I just so happen to be one those people. You could not get me to go sky diving even if you offered me a million dollars. I still wonder why someone would choose to willingly jump out of a plane and free fall several thousand feet towards the ground.

My Inner Peace
When I read about this challenge, I almost decided to roll right past it and write something else completely. Not because of any lack of inner peace or mindful making activities, which we all have, whether we acknowledge them or not. It wasn’t because I didn’t have any good ideas on the subject either. It was solely based on what I’d read about meditation and mental health activities in the past.
