Why I've Always Wanted to be a Writer
Ever since I was little, I've always wanted a career as a writer. I think it's really fun for me to craft my own stories and worlds. At the age of ten, where I did my own school newspaper called The Backpack News. It wasn't a work of art, but it also wasn't bad for a ten-year-old, either. It had short stories that I wrote myself, a few current events, like birthdays and homework, and reviews for TV episodes (particularly of The Simpsons), movies (Bridge to Terabithia), and restaurants (Fuddruckers). I would later go on to working for my school newspapers and literary magazine in middle school (movie reviews and quizzes, respectively) and for part of high school as well.

The Woman, The Hummingbird & The Sage
Eyes strained, standing up to stretch and move as I have just spent 3 hours getting important documents done for work. Being 7 months pregnant is not helping the entire situation, seeing as my already achy and fatigued body from growing a human is making the usual work-from-home comfort a lot less comfortable and a lot more enticing to just lay in bed and sleep the days away until labor & delivery. I am almost there, though! Work stress and physical stress cannot compare to the newness of expectant mother stress and first-time mom anxiety--all the what-if's, worries, responsibility, lack of sleep and the desire to be the best I can be with no experience in this department can make the most confident of women insecure and fearful.

Super You
I bet most of us wanted to be a superhero when we were kids. The idea of leaping over buildings in a single bound, possessing the strength of 100 men, the ability to climb walls like an arachnid- but, like so many things, as we get older, most of us reconcile that we are of just the standard human variety. More than a few able-bodied folk have a hard time dealing with amputees. It seems as though there are only two sides of a fence they feel comfortable putting us on: 1) where every amputee is a superhero, able to overcome any obstacle, or 2) that we are helpless in a world built for those with two arms and two legs. As amputees, we can find ourselves walking the jagged edge, and impaling ourselves on their expectations.
