Power of Words

Life and Death

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." This is a phrase we have all heard more than once in our lives. In my heart, mind and spirit; I understand this phrase is only true if you permit words to hurt you. Instead of allowing hateful words to penetrate my wall of truth and love; I find by offering words of mercy and kindness, hateful words become nothing.

Words are power, if one understands how to use that power. Many use words to destroy and kill; but I have found by responding to these types of people with words of truth, kindness and love, my words conquer their hateful usage of words and eventually helps them to see a brighter side of life.

One can use words to either uplift another or destroy. Words have been known to conquer whole civilizations or make them thrive. All it takes is one word, to either bring light to this world or to continue to feed the darkness in this world.

Through the observation, study and usage of words; I have found how to use these words to control and/or even change the environment around me. I have noticed when one says a hateful word; it tends to spread like a virus to others in the environment, even if the others do not notice it.

Words can blanket the world in love and comfort; yet too many desire the evils of their hearts and use their power of words to hate and destroy. In a world of darkness and hate; using words of love and kindness can heal and make the darkness fade away.

If more people understood what their words create; I do believe people would be more careful with that which comes out of the mouth. Words are much like water; they flow smoothly yet are strong enough to either make one live or completely destroy all in their path and wash them away. This is why I choose to use words to uplift rather than destroy; for the more positive usage of words we use, the better the world will become.

Many times I have observed words completely break another down to nothing but an empty shell. Yet I have also observed how words can make one full of life, love and joy. I myself have felt the damage of words to my heart; yet not necessarily my mind nor spirit.

When one knows who they are in all truth and understanding; the power of ill conceived words have no effect. Using words to uplift another, uplifts your mind and spirit as well as the other you are speaking to. Kind and loving words can mend a broken heart, mind and spirit.

Words define the character of an individual. This is something one can clearly see by simply listening to whomever is talking and by observing the individual's behavior while he/she is talking. One whom says "hateful words" generally behaves in an uncaring and cold way. Yet one whom speaks "loving words" behaves calmly, without malice and ignorance.

Those who use their words in logic and reason are well understood; they keep it simple and to the point. We can clearly observe there are no "hateful" intentions when words are used with logic and reason. Yet when one uses words of hate and profanity; their character begins to look rotted and diminished. They begin to behave with ignorance and malice; without logic, reason, kindness or love.

The only way to destroy "hateful words" are to sow words of kindness, mercy and understanding in wisdom and love. The more one sows words of kindness; the more kindness will return to that individual. We reap that which we sow; therefore, sow words of life instead of words of death and we will receive life in return.
