What is your favorite place to go to while on vacation or thing to do? Actually, to be totally truthful my place to go on vacation would be a reading room much like the one in the picture. To be locked away with so many books would be awesome to me, but I would come out for walks outside. On those walks I would probably have a book in my hands, whether a classic novel like 'Wuthering Heights' or even a contemporary novel from Nora Roberts or Patricia Cornwall or one of many children's or youth books that are out there.
Another way other than reading I think I would like to go on a writing retreat one day and keep learning and sharing and discussing various works of authors and other writers. Yet still there is another way I would enjoy a vacation if not reading and that would be going to a camp to learn and improve my artist skills that would have me learning life drawing or really any kind of drawing. I believe I draw well, but we can all improve in what we already know.
There are times that I would like to just go to a beach and sit in the sand from sunrise to sunset and just soak in the sun of course I would use sun protection if just sitting out on the beach on my favorite beach towel or blanket or even one day renting a cabana and ordering drinks and meals and just enjoy the people going by and making up stories about them. Does anyone do that? For instance, if an Asian man was walking along the beach or boardwalk with a black woman or a black woman walking down the boardwalk with a Native American what kind of stories could one think of writing?
On vacation to me even means just even getting a change of venue like visiting another family member that lives a half state away, but only about two maybe 2 1/2 hours away from home. Even though there just to help out a little around the house by doing a few dishes, taking out the garbage, and since I brought my dog along, I decided to sweep the floors a little since she sheds a little bit since it's getting hotter this late Spring season or early summer season, which will probably mean even more humid as well.
To get back to my being on vacation sort of will always be just going someplace with several books, art and writing supplies and trying to be creative in some way. That just reminded maybe even one day going somewhere and learn the many ways of sculpture. I was told that there might even be a cruise to the southern side of the Caribbean. I will have to wait and see about that one though for there was supposed to be an Alaskan cruise that never came to fruition, but oh well que sera sera.
That last phrase at the end of paragraph could lead to another staycation where I could enroll in a few college courses to learn other languages like Greek, German, Spanish or even improve my French, and learn more about their cultures. I am a person who just likes to learn new things. Here is an idea for a vacation. Does anyone remember those college trips one took when graduating from high school to visit several colleges. What would it be like to take one of those trips as a college graduate even with grad degrees and asking all those odd questions that parents and young students seem to ask?

Well written, Mark. My idea of a good time would be a week in Wales, just me and Phil. He likes to walk; I like to sit by the sea. Maybe a trip to Bangor to sit on the prom. Go to a car boot or three. Take my camera to photograph anything a poem can be born from. Then if Phil goes for a walk, I could get out my paints in the Caravan, and just be one with myself. All worries left at home until we return to our driveway. I so want to do this, but my confidence isn’t right, and I couldn’t walk anywhere."
