What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Nizhan Smith and I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.
Why do you love what you do?
The reason I love what I do is it keeps me away from feeling like I’m stuck in a constant cycle day to day that many people deal with their whole life. I love the fact I can wake up in the morning with the mindset I can do whatever I want to do because of the life I live. Music making for me come naturally. I haven’t wrote a song in over 2 years every song that I have made since 2020 has been a freestyle that took me on average 10-20 minutes to make. I love that I am even able to do that.
What makes you different?
I never try to be like the next person I always stay in my own lane at my own pace. The problem with people today they’re so caught up in social media, and social status to the point where they’re blinded by who they really are. Don’t get me wrong you essentially need some sort of higher level status to get better opportunities whether that be by degree, by following, by financial freedom. They all come back to having a good standing in the eyes of some sort of “audience”. The difference with me is no matter how many followers I have, how much money is in my pocket I’m still going to be Nino. With a deal, or without a deal my name is still going to ring bells the only difference is the time it will take to do so.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see my self doing shows, accepting awards, and being way farther than I am now. I can honestly say everything I have been doing recently is really going to prepare me for the person I want to become in the next couple of years. I have never been this excited in my life for the unknown of my destiny. I have a lot of people pushing me to be better and better each day so I have to keep going for not only them but me too.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
I honestly just want my kids to have the life I never had. I’m not going to say I had the worst life ever, but it definitely wasn’t one to brag about. At a young age I was in and out of trouble constantly with no outlet other than music. This has always been my therapy. I want my future family to be able to look back and say “I’m proud to have a dad like you.” That right there is what I want to accomplish in life.
What do you bring to your industry?
What I brings to the industry is nothing short of surprise after surprise. I have the ability to make songs back to back while not only sounding original each time, but still having the ability to keep persevering no matter what problems occur in the booth.
What do you want to be remembered by? The versatility I have mixed with the energy I bring to the table. My versatility makes me stand out from a lot of other artists because I myself fell into that stuck in the same flow for awhile before I gained the ability to make any genre I wanted to while still keeping my own style intact. The energy on the other hand isn’t what you would call “over the top”, but enough to get the crowd moving.
