What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Reverend Adam Days. I have a musical project called "God Analog" where I write and perform rock/metal music. I'm from California, which means I get paid way too little and rent is way too expensive. Oh, and we're constantly either on fire, or in a drought, or both.
I’m going to be honest with you – writing about the minutia of life as a newborn baby is really hard for me, and reading about it is going to be really boring for you, so, I’m just going to give you the most pertinent details, and get on with the actually interesting stuff, because I strongly doubt you came here to read about me wearing diapers. If you did, I suggest you read a different article. Pervert. Anyway, I was born Adam Anthony Days. I’ve read a few autobiographies where the author briefly describes stuff like the weather on the day they were born.
I’m not going to do that for three reasons:
*1) I think it’s BS.
*2) I was slightly preoccupied, you know, being born.
*3) I don’t f---ing remember, because I was a baby (see *2).
My earliest memory is of living in a mobile home. My maternal grandmother was visiting and I excitedly ran down the hall to fetch something I had wanted to show off.
I’ve not the slightest idea how I managed to accomplish this, being that is was a straight shot from the livingroom to the hallway, but I ran directly into the corner of the wall where the hall began, fell backwards and cried.
I still have a little scar on my face from this.
I have a separate memory where I was holding a pen, tripped on some mess I probably should have cleaned up, and fell face first onto said pen. It plunged into my cheekbone, mercifully missing my eyeball by millimeters.
Clearly I wasn’t the most coordinated of children. I still have a little scar on my face from this, too. It's small wonder I started wearing makeup, isn't it?
Why do you love what you do?
Writing and performing music is therapeutic for me. It's a ritual. It's a summoning. It's magic. Plus, it feels nice to literally scream out my frustrations with the world - I find it very cathartic.
What makes you different?
I try to avoid being self aggrandising but I'd say my style of quasi-industrial alternative metal is a shade of color different from most of what's being released currently. I blend different genres to make something at least somewhat unique. Usually people don't complain too loudly when I sing, so I think I'm doing okay.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Likely still on Earth but if I'm really lucky, I'll be able to catch a shuttle to the moon, or begin the colonist movement on Mars. At least it's quiet there. Plus, I'd likely be one of the few rock musicians there, so I'd have a built in (and captive) audience.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
A state of happiness.
What do you bring to your industry?
I like to think I bring high quality music without the corperate baggage. I bring music that doesn't totally suck and present it in a non-sucky way. I also can juggle up to an impressive three balls, which must count for something.
What do you want to be remembered by?
Ideally I'll be remembered as a talented artist but I'll be perfectly content being remembered for being a decent human.
