What’s your name and where are you from?
Our hip-hop music group is called 24:16, and we consist of two lyricists, Clizzy Houston and Hylyda. Clizzy hails from Houston, Texas, and Hylyda is from Dothan, Alabama, but we currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
Why do you love what you do?
We love what we do because it loves us back. We believe that hip-hop is a powerful tool that can be used to uplift and inspire people the same way it has done for us. Our mission is to advocate for the underdogs in this music industry and to display brotherhood in everything we do. We want to impact our listeners rather than just impressing them. We believe that music is a universal language that can bring people together and create positive change. There's a shift in the hip-hop culture every so often that sifts out some of its substance and we enjoy adding layers to the craft that not only shapes the course, but keeps the movement going forward.
What makes you different?
What makes us different is the fact that we recognize that we actually are, and our focus on creating conversations through our music, interviews, performances, and podcasting shows exactly that. We want to use our platform to promote positivity and to give a voice to those who are often overlooked. We also believe in authenticity and staying true to ourselves, and we bring that to our music and our interactions with our supporters.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, we see ourselves continuing to create meaningful music that resonates with our target audience. We want to expand our reach and work with other artists and brands who share our vision. We also want to use our platform to give back to our communities that will remind us of our initial intentions and to make a positive impact on the world, one set of ears and eyes at a time. Truly, connecting allows us to be a blessing to many burdens.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
In life, we want to make a positive difference and leave a lasting impression of growth. We want to inspire others to pursue their dreams and to use their talents to ignite other creatives in the world. We also want to use our success to give back to our communities and to help those who are not only less fortunate in resources, but also in awareness of possibilities.
What do you bring to your industry?
We bring a fresh perspective to the hip-hop industry. We are committed to promoting positivity and uplifting those who are often overlooked. We believe in using our platform to create meaningful conversations and to make a difference to the individual, and will in turn reflect on the world. We also bring authenticity and realness to our music, and we strive to stay true to ourselves in everything we do.
What do you want to be remembered by?
We want to be remembered as artists who used their talents to make a positive impact globally. We want to inspire others to pursue their dreams and to use their talents to make a difference. We want to be remembered as a group that stayed true to themselves and promoted positivity and brotherhood in everything they did. Most importantly, we want to be remembered as artists who used their music to uplift and inspire people. This is the main reason why we chose to lead out with our debut single, Remember My Name. It's a statement, not a gimmick or trend.
