Managing our habits

A significant way of a significant change

By Loghin AndreiPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

First of all, what is this so-called ‘habit’? Well then, a habit can be a settled or a certain manner of action or behavior regarding different situations or actions. A habit is described as spontaneous and it is quite a challenge to get rid of it, though is it abnormal to have habits? It’s normal to have them, but they are coming in different shapes, so today we will focus on the good and bad ones.

We all have habits that help define who we are. Some of these habits have been with us since we were children, while others have picked up over the years. But the truth is, our habits can change over time. Some of the most common ways our habits can change include gaining new skills, learning from experience, responding to feedback, and adjusting to different environments.

As our understanding of ourselves and the world around us evolves, so too do our habits. One of the most important ways to ensure that our habits are positively serving us is to be conscious of how they are changing. Are they helping us reach our goals? Are they encouraging us to be more mindful and compassionate? Or are they hindering us from achieving our goals and developing meaningful relationships? It's also important to take into account our own experiences when considering how our habits are changing. For instance, if you're working on overcoming addiction, you'll want to look for healthy replacements for your old habits and behaviors.

Similarly, if you find yourself getting overwhelmed and anxious in certain situations, it may be beneficial to build skills such as deep breathing or mindfulness techniques that can help you stay calm. Habits can be incredibly powerful tools for shaping who we are and how we interact with the world. It's important to be mindful of how our habits are changing over time and how they're affecting our lives, so we can make sure that we're using them for our benefit.

Good habits are the key to success. They can help you achieve your goals and live a happy life. Bad habits, on the other hand, can lead to failure and unhappiness.

The good news is that it is never too late to change your bad habits for good ones. It takes time and effort but it will be worth it in the end, but you just need to be aware of them and make a conscious effort to change them.

The first step to building a new habit is to identify the habit you want to build. The second step is to identify the triggers that will prompt you to do the new behavior. The third step is to identify your desired outcome.

The fourth step is to create a plan for how you will achieve your desired outcome. This plan should include what you need for it to work, such as time, money, and other resources. The fifth and final step is taking action and following through with your plan.

Bad habits are hard to break. They can be a result of our environment, upbringing, or even genetics. But the good news is that we can change our habits with some effort and time.

The first step is to identify the bad habit you want to break. Once you know what it is, you need to find out why it's bad for you and how it affects your life. Then, make a plan for how you're going to stop doing it and replace it with something else that will be better for your health and well-being. Finally, stick with your plan until the habit sticks!

Indeed it is quite a challenging journey, changing something which was part of you for lots of years can prove quite demanding, yet do not lose hope, remain positive, and maintain your patience, as the results cannot b seen overnight.

As a person who battled persistent negative habits in the past, I would recommend listening to Atomic Habits, by James Clear. It is captivatingly narrated and for me, it was quite useful.
