Loving Yourself

Self-love.

By Shaimaa ShalabyPublished 6 years ago 2 min read
Imaging how the stars stand strong and admirable, that is you.

I want to talk to you frankly about the idea of loving yourself deeply. I know that many of us might have our insecurities, ones we don’t want to let out in public, in fear that someone might have a perspective that we aren’t good enough. So what do we do? We try to hide behind fake smiles to try and fit in with the other ones who seem happy and hopeful, when in reality they might be faking it as well. Those times that pass by us, those times when we could not comprehend our own mind and soul when all we want to do is to skip to the top, jump over all of the riddles and obstacles to easily reach that lie that we do love ourselves.

We haven’t even tried to dig deep within us when we haven’t tried to accept our flaws, our mistakes, our outer appearance. Not even tried to take a personal dedication to follow a routine where we get to befriend our souls dearly and deeply. How could we expect to reach that point when we truly believe in our minds that we are not good enough. But I want to tell you that life has its ways, and those are the ways that changed us into the person we are today. And that the consequence is so beautifully exciting, and different, it’s adventurous to know that we are different, that we have changed.

I think we have to learn to accept those changes, mistakes, flaws, and everything that comes with us. When you can’t fall asleep at night, thinking of how much of a bad person you might have been to many, start thinking in your head, that you hate yourself for just that one mistake that might have made someone cry unintentionally. I want you to know sometimes its not your fault; that sometimes, when you have done all that you should have done to that person, yet they don’t seem to return that much care that you deserve back, remember that your soul had had enough, it had shut off from them, you could no longer tolerate their treatment to you, and that they were the ones who turned you into the person you are today.

So please, forgive yourself, truly and honestly, focus on yourself, leave behind those who don’t show much of an appreciation, they will always think that it’s your fault, not theirs anyway, so start that lesson of loving yourself immensely, take care of yourself. Surround yourself with those who truly motivate you and care about you before it’s too late. It’s your time now when your soul is beaten black and blue, it’s the only way to plant it back into flowers and shooting stars. Love yourself through everything bad it holds, and leave those whom you’ve done so much for but they don’t seem to think of you a single bit or appreciate what you have done for them.
