It’s Time

I Believe We Are Finally Ready

By "Serenity Mask" Published 6 years ago 2 min read

It’s Time…

We’ve been dumbing down and numbing out for long enough. It’s time for stepping up, and standing up once and for all. How can we break the cycles if we blindly accept them without a thought? How can we make changes if we won’t even acknowledge them?

The great Masking of an entire civilization has run its course.

Americans are in a state of shock and extreme denial. Drugs, alcohol, etc. is our societal ‘gut response.’ It’s becoming sort of a self-defense mechanism in order to survive in cruel times.

A Nation Addicted:

There is rampant consumption of any and all substances/behaviors, in lieu of mindfulness and the maintenance of integrity (in all that exists and is important). The end result is the blatant avoidance of inner growth and any processes of healing. Complete denial of, and refusal to acknowledge the vital ‘shadow’ work needed to progress spiritually, mentally, and universally.

The supposed war on drugs is virtually non-existent as far as I can tell. Their interference is merely a divisive system of control, and a component of their scare tactics meant to intimidate and ensue fear, in turn making the ‘addiction’ a game. A fatalistic battling of unfathomable cruel intentions, by all parties.

  • C’mon! I’ve been around the block a few times, and one thing I’ve found to be obvious, is the toxicity of alcoholism and consumption. Yet it’s socially acceptable, and served on every block in the city!
  • So now, tell me again... how is there a system in place to prevent addiction? My biggest struggle with addiction came from my doctors. Deadly opiates, administered daily for twelve years, no education or counseling offered about the risks, beforehand or afterwards... when I was cut off cold-turkey, and left to figure it out alone. They didn’t care anymore, they had me addicted and scrambling around trying to figure out what to do after they denied my disability claims, and then cut off my Medicaid. No money? No cares given. We can’t help you! You can’t go to the drug dealer if you can’t pay… duh. No matter if the name tag says MD.
  • How exactly is there still a capability to manufacture and distribute some of these ‘street drugs’? Surely, the government with all of their extreme control issues, would be able to eliminate some of this… after all this time!
  • Marijuana. Enough said! Well, it should be self-explanatory. This plant has been used medicinally, with documentation as far back as the 1500s. It has been proven to be beneficial in countless ways, and not proven to be harmful or addictive. Yet, we still have Americans in prisons for its use.

Numb

Look around. Astonishingly enough, millions scurry about craving the comfort of desensitization. Preferring a zombie-like deadening of the senses, in order to simply exist as opposed to taking an invested, active participation in their physical and mental reality. Actively focusing on anesthetizing, rather than healing their pain.

**Look at one part of the definition of anesthetizing:

“Tragedy of a magnitude that anesthetizes the mind."

Is it actually referencing the epidemic of widespread self-medicating? Is it so common amongst us, to the point that the actual definition of this word includes the phrase: tragedy of a magnitude?

That speaks volumes... upon volumes to me. Why are we allowing this to continue! If it’s common knowledge, why are we running blind still? Wake up, people! This has got to stop. We can do better.

Imposter of Peace/Happiness

Being high is not the same thing as being at peace. Being drunk is not even similar to being happy.

The problem with using alcohol or any drug to ‘self medicate’ is in the fact that any perceived benefit you may be experiencing is a fleeting illusion. So, in order to continue with those lovely feelings, you must repeat the usage. A vicious cycle then ensues, the crash afterward makes you feel even worse than ever... so the substance or behavior becomes an immediate need! Use, come down, repeat.

It’s only masking the problem, your feelings, or whatever issue you are having. When you wake up, the next day, or in the case of drug abuse, whenever you get clean… you’re left with all the same things that made you want to mask your problems. Not only that, but you’ve compounded it by ‘checking out’, and new factors exist, sometimes you’re completely unaware of them. Whether you’ve alienated your spouse/family, lost your job, or lost your own self respect, either way you’ve only created a bigger hole.
