“If You’re Not Chasing Your Dream, Something Worse Is Chasing You”
You think you’re chilling? Time and poverty are doing press-up behind you.
I sat down one day — you know, just minding my business — and I suddenly realized something deep.
Everything in this life has a purpose. Like, everything.
Mosquito? Purpose. Cockroach? Still trying to understand that one — but purpose. Even your phone charger has a mission in this life. Let the wire bend small, and your whole mood will shift. That’s power.
So tell me... why not you?
If You’re Not Chasing Something, Something Is Chasing You
Here’s a truth that slapped me one morning while I was “relaxing” for the 10th day in a row:
“If you’re not chasing money, poverty is jogging toward you with full energy.”
And you think it’s a joke. Poverty is fit. That guy does cardio. He’s coming for you with speed and confidence.
Same with success. If you’re not chasing your dream, don’t worry — regret is training for a marathon. It will catch up with you sooner or later, with no apology.
I Let Procrastination Rent Space in My Head
Let me not lie. I could’ve done a lot of things by now. I could’ve written books, made YouTube videos, learned 5 programming languages, or even built my own app where goats give life advice (don’t ask why, just flow with me).
But what did I do instead?
“I’ll do it tomorrow.” My favorite national anthem.
Tomorrow came. I blinked — now it’s 6 months later. Time didn’t even greet me before it zoomed off.
Procrastination is a thief. And worse, it doesn’t come alone — it brings regret, delay, self-doubt, and Netflix with it.
You Were Not Built to Be Idle
Let me ask you something: Have you ever seen a tree doing “just vibes”?
No. Even tree wey no dey move still dey produce oxygen, shade, and sometimes mango.
So who are you to now say, “I don’t know what to do with my life”? No be you God wire with ideas and brain and talent?
The truth is: You’re not empty. You’re just distracted.
The Pain of “What If?”
Sometimes, I sit down and wonder,
“What if I had been consistent since last year?”
What if I had posted that content?
What if I stayed on that business idea?
What if I actually finished that course I started in January 2019?
Bruh. I might be living in my dream house by now. With AC. And plantain buffet. And a talking dog named Genius.
But instead, I was giving my time to small, small excuses like: “I’m not in the mood.” “I need motivation.” “My charger is not working.” (Yeah, I used that one.
The Solution? Get Up and Get Serious
Let’s not overcomplicate this. You already know what you’re supposed to be doing. It’s not mystery — it’s discipline that’s missing.
So let me tell you what I told myself:
✅ Pick something you love or believe in. ✅ Make it your daily assignment. ✅ Even if you don’t feel like it, do small. ✅ Consistency is what separates dreamers from doers.
You can’t become successful accidentally. It’s intentional. You build it. One day at a time. One step after another.
Final Words from Pure Crown
Let me drop this last one for your spirit:
“You were created for something. Stop living like you were created for nothing.”
It doesn’t matter if you’ve wasted time before. What matters now is what you do next.
Start chasing something. Your dream. Your purpose. Your goal. Because if you don’t, time and poverty will treat you like jollof rice at a party — they will finish you without shame.
So stand up. Focus. Be consistent.
One day, people will say, “Ah! That guy, that girl... they’re lucky.” But it won’t be luck. It’ll be grace + grind.
And you’ll smile, sipping your cold drink in peace, knowing: “I chased my dream — and I caught it.”
