God Wants You Well

Many people struggle with sickness, pain, and affliction, wondering if it is God’s will for them to suffer. However, the Bible is clear—God wants His people to be well. His desire is for us to walk in health, peace, and wholeness.

God’s Nature is Healing

God is love (1 John 4:8), and His love includes healing. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, God consistently reveals Himself as the healer of His people. In Exodus 15:26, He declares, "I am the Lord who heals you." This means that God has always had a heart for restoration, desiring to bring His children out of sickness into divine health.

Jesus Himself demonstrated this truth throughout His earthly ministry. He healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, made the lame walk, and even raised the dead. Everywhere He went, He brought healing because it was in His nature to do so. Acts 10:38 tells us, "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil." Healing was not just something Jesus did occasionally—it was a central part of His mission.

Jesus Paid for Our Healing

The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross was not just for our sins but also for our healing. Isaiah 53:5 says, "But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds, we are healed." This prophecy was confirmed in the New Testament when Matthew 8:17 says that Jesus healed the sick, fulfilling what Isaiah had spoken. The suffering of Christ made provision for both spiritual salvation and physical healing.

1 Peter 2:24 reiterates this promise: "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds, you have been healed." Healing is not just an afterthought—it is part of the atonement. When Jesus paid the price for sin, He also conquered sickness.

Faith and Healing

Throughout Scripture, faith is linked to healing. Jesus often said, "Your faith has made you well." This means that God’s power is available, but we must receive it by faith. James 5:14-15 encourages believers to pray for the sick, believing that the prayer of faith will heal them.

Faith is not just wishful thinking; it is a firm trust in God’s Word. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as "confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Even when symptoms persist, we must stand firm, believing that God’s promise of healing is true. Just as Abraham believed God’s promise despite all odds, we too must hold onto God’s assurance of healing.

Healing is God’s Promise

God’s promises are unchanging, and He has assured us of health and restoration. Psalm 103:2-3 reminds us to "forget not all His benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases." God does not want His children to live in sickness; instead, He calls us to trust in His provision for our healing.

Jeremiah 30:17 further declares, "For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord." God’s Word repeatedly affirms that healing is His will. Whether through miracles, divine intervention, or medical treatment, God is always working to bring restoration.

Walking in Divine Health

While miraculous healing is available, God also desires that we walk in divine health by making wise choices. This includes:

Trusting in His Word – Meditate on Scriptures about healing and declare them over your life. Confess healing promises daily, such as "The Lord is my healer" (Exodus 15:26) and "With long life, He will satisfy me" (Psalm 91:16).

Living by Faith – Believe that God’s will is for you to be well and refuse to accept sickness as your portion. Stand in agreement with God’s Word, knowing that His promises are for you.

Taking Care of Your Body – Eat well, exercise, and rest, knowing that your body is God’s temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Making healthy choices aligns with God’s plan for your well-being.

Praying and Seeking God – Spend time in prayer, asking God for healing and wisdom. James 5:16 says, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." Never underestimate the power of prayer in receiving and maintaining healing.

Guarding Your Mind and Heart – Avoid stress, anxiety, and negative thoughts, as these can affect your health. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to bring everything to God in prayer and receive His peace. A joyful heart is good medicine (Proverbs 17:22).

Healing is for Today

Many people wonder if divine healing is still for today. The answer is a resounding "Yes!" Hebrews 13:8 declares, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." The miracles of healing that Jesus performed in the Bible are still available to believers today. God has not changed, and His desire to see His people well remains the same.

There are countless testimonies of people being healed by the power of God—whether instantly through prayer, gradually over time, or through medical intervention guided by His wisdom. Healing comes in many forms, but the source is always God.

Conclusion

God wants you well—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. If you are battling sickness, do not lose hope. Stand on God’s promises, seek Him in faith, and trust that His desire is for your healing. Whether through supernatural intervention, medical treatment, or lifestyle changes, God’s plan for you is wholeness and health.

Healing is part of the abundant life that Jesus came to give (John 10:10). Refuse to settle for sickness, and instead, claim the promises of God over your life. He is still the same yesterday, today, and forever, and His power to heal is as real now as it was in the days of Jesus. Amen.
