Every Day Struggle to Be Bigger

Be you, do you.

By Jane SmithPublished 7 years ago 2 min read

Right, I am sitting in this beautiful Barcelonian bar sipping a gorgeous glass of red with this chocolate hint in it (note: I can't afford this glass nor the second one—and I am actually drinking second #justsaying, as I am unemployed and should be thinking of the fucking eggs for tomorrow's breakie god damn it). Nonetheless, fuck it. I will go jogging tomorrow morning instead. Years ago I was dreaming of "this" moment, not to be unemployed nor not being able to buy myself a glass of red a week before my birthday especially, but to be evolving and becoming someone who will not settle for boredom and be subjected to the fear of living the life.

So, I am sitting here in this strange country's restaurant (you could see me at the bar counter that is super shiny because it pretends to be marble but it is wooden just covered in this thing to make it look rich and it is, haha—so it kinda works I guess, I am unemployed who looks rich too). You need to understand the smell of the food served here is so delicious and it makes me want to have my own August (that's the name of this restaurant) and my friends will understand very well what I mean as I always talk about having my food business. But listen, how many times we entered places that made us feel like that? Besides of Casinos and Hotels of course.

Moving on, I have been applying for jobs since I decided to move and change my unhappy nevertheless ok-ish London life to Spanish— Catalonian to be precise. I have been going through my old cover letters as you do in such circumstance, I have come across these words: "What makes me strong candidate as well as human is that I did not allow my past define my future therefore I trust that the future belongs to people with vision and an open mind. My vision of the world relates to uniqueness, creativity and hard work. I love people and working with them, they inspire as well as motivate me. I consider that perfection is made out of imperfection, and there are no limits in creativity. Although I enjoy working in a team I am not scared to use my own initiative. I am a valuable member of any team because I am a conscientious and tenacious employee that has great inter-personal skills with high work ethic." And do you know what? Although I wrote it years ago it is still relevant, well the team crap sounds very cliche but I meant it and do even now, funny enough. So fingers crossed there will be someone out there who will not see me just as another robotic applicant but can hear me and let me be me. Because there is nothing more important in our lives than being able to just be ourselves. So, I would like to sum up: I strongly believe that all of us who are trying and trying so hard every day not to give up and fight just to be, can be heard and years later sitting in the place they dream to own they will own. The journey is yet to be explored.
