Don’t leave anything for later…

Don’t leave anything for later…

Think about the dreams and goals you’ve set aside – the love you let go, the chance you didn’t take owning a business, the class you never enrolled in, or the book you never started.  What would happen if you took the first step today, regardless of age?  What would it feel like to feel the opportunity in the deepest parts of your soul manifest?  It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture – perhaps the journey of fulfillment starts with a small manageable step.

I can promise you that regrets of inaction will weigh heavier than mistakes made while trying.  The lessons you learn on the road to action from failures will shape the path to your future.  Regret is a funny thing, it’s something that can haunt you, but if you take a leap of faith towards the unknown – you will build resistance and a deeper understanding of yourself.

Don’t leave anything for later…

Life has a way of slipping away faster than we realize.  When we are young, we don’t think we will ever get old, but the youngness of our bodies is fleeting.  Leaving things for later will often have us looking back at the dreams we never chased.  We always believe that there will be more time – time for love, time for travel, time to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us, time to amend past mistakes, time to pursue passions, and time to set our intentions to be fulfilled.  Tomorrow turns into next year which turns into a lost opportunity to take a leap of faith.

What if you called that friend you haven’t spoken to since childhood, took a class to learn a new skill, called an old flame you once loved, went on that camping trip alone, took a moment to watch the beautiful sunset, and sat with your aging parent in their final years.

Don’t leave anything for later…

We all know how unpredictable life can be – the challenges it throws us that we never expected, but there is beauty in these moments amidst the chaos.  Our job is to see these lessons to shift our mindset.  Procrastination is nothing more than fear, fear of failure, fear of the unknown, and even fear of success.  It confines us to a life of comfort but keeps us stagnating in postponing actions to a connection to a life that could be beautiful.  Doing uncomfortable things will bring richness, experiences of growth, and love.

Perfect conditions will never exist – it’s about embracing imperfection and the inherent messiness of life.  If we listen to well-meaning friends, and family who have opinions as to how to proceed in our lives, we will never tap into the resources we are born with.  When we stop waiting for the right moment and start acting, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities.

In the grand tapestry of life, all the tiny moments are threads that contribute to the whole picture.

It’s so easy to push aside the most important things – like love.  Love is what brings meaning and joy to our lives.  We tell ourselves there will be a better time to say, “I love you,” to forgive, to apologize, or to simply spend quality time with the ones we care about.  Unspoken words and feelings create barriers that lead to an emptiness in our hearts because of fear.  Fear of rejection, fear of vulnerability, fear of not being enough – a fear that paralyzes us, making us hesitate and second-guess our actions.  But love in the truest form, requires courage – we must take a risk to embrace the possibility of joy and pain.

Relationships can wither away and an opportunity for a deeper connection can be lost.  People move away. Circumstances change, and life’s unpredictable nature means that our chance to express feelings might not come again.  The regret of not having said or done something when we had the chance will be a heavy burden on your heart and soul.

Seize opportunities now…

Reach out to friends and family now to let them know you care, mend broken relationships before it’s too late, write that heartfelt letter, plan a getaway – create memories, strengthen bonds, and show the people you love that they are valued and cherished.

The time to love is now, the time to write that book, go on a hike, start that business, join that gym, and take a chance on your passions is NOW.

Don’t leave anything for later…

happiness
