We don’t mature through age; we mature in awareness.

I hope you become a little more mature, said my teacher to some young kids at my class on high school.
Mature, did you have asked yourself if you're mature? Ops, wait a minute, mature has nothing to do with look serious or really polite. Mature is the state of how you deal with things around you and your emotions, and people are more about respect. Are you mature? Really? Asked the teacher to some high school kids Who could not behave in class. But what really happened to the teacher had to ask them to behave you might be asking yourself. Well, let me tell you the story.
My class was really big in high school, actually was almost a theater class, but, at some point, we all start to have music classes. One of the kids played the Violin, "James," really like that class, but he struggled so much to play that instrument. Some kids start to torment James in every class of music, acting so immature and disrespectful. James continued playing his Violin and piano, little by little, he was improving, so one day, the teacher were so upset with that secret attitude of some young people that she said, "are you guys really mature? This is high school. If you want to act like that, you can go back to kindergarten. The teacher turned around to James and said: "James, you should tell me when this kinda stuff happens." He turns around, really calm, and replies, "Mother taught me to not lost my time arguing with ignorance; they might win for having experience of being so immature." I really never forgot that phrase that James told the teacher do not lose time arguing with immature people. After some class, that teens stopped, and years later, I knew and heard that James had become a great musician and had gone to the university of music. But why am I telling you this story, because like James, sometimes you have to silence the immature voices around you and do not lose your time arguing with immature people? Keep doing whatever you're doing, keep working, and focusing on yourself. The best answer is to tune down everything around you in silence.
In different situations in life, we are like that class of music, in which group of people is you? the ones acting immature to be more likable, or the ones who focus on themself and keep learning and working to grow? Are you growing or shrinking yourself?
Self-knowledge is the first step to maturity.
Jane Austen
