Aspirations As A Vocal Creator For 2024

The Prompt

Write about your aspirations for yourself as a creator on Vocal in 2024.

Introduction

I misunderstood the scope of this challenge. I thought it was about what to expect from Vocal in 2024, but it is not, it is about what I expect to do on Vocal in 2024.

I believe all we can expect from Vocal in 2024 is a platform that works. They won't listen to ideas from creators, they will just put things on the road map at best, which is their euphemism for rubbish bin, but on the positive side, they will pay us for ALL reads and will keep the challenges go, which will provide me with writing prompts, and this is no exception.

So what are my aspirations on Vocal for 2024?

My Vocal Goals For 2024

The very first one is to publish my two thousandth Vocal Story, which I expect to happen sometime in March 2024, probably when I am on holiday in Alnwick once more so that story may be another about the Poisoned Garden like this one.

I also expect to hit fifty thousand reads sometime this year. I was getting a lot of reads from my Folk Music series but then was hounded out of the group because one member accused me of "self-promotion" and saying a question I asked violated group rules. I decided I didn't need that toxicity in my life and so left, although the admins and most members loved my work. This was the story that sent the guy over the edge, although he berated all my stories. I am continuing with the series though.

I often feel that I have written about everything I can, but then inspiration hits and one more story comes up. Vocal provides a plethora of prompts on this page here (and subsequent pages in Resources Tips and Guides)

I also intend to anthologise some of my poems and publish them in 2024. I already have five publications available on Amazing which you can see here.

I intend to keep growing the Vocal Social Society with the Administrators in that group, which you can visit here. We currently have close to 1250 members, both Vocal Creators and Readers.

These are the Creators who make this incredible Vocal group what it is, I try and help when I can.

Going forward I will continue to make suggestions to Vocal in the hope that one day they might actually take some notice.

I was saddened that my resource articles that I wrote were completely ignored, and I assume other creators felt that too as only one creator piece was published, so I removed mine from draft and put them in this piece here.

As well as suggestions I will continue to point out issues to Vocal. If we don't point out issues we cannot complain if nothing changes. I do point them out, as everyone well knows, so I feel I have the right to complain at times.

I really do hope in 2024 Vocal start actioning suggestions and deal with issues like blocking spammers and sorting out the stats page and notifications.

These were all promised but have never materialised.

Please Vocal listen to us and do something.

Concluding This

So 2024 will see me writing a lot more on Vocal, taking prompts and ideas, and supporting other Creators. I expect to get a reasonable amount of coffee money, but the main thing is that Vocal will keep me in touch with all the wonderful friends that I have made since I started on Vocal.

This will be my only entry in this challenge. I promise.
