8 Life Lessons I Learned the Hard Way

You need to hear this...

By A Girl's DreamPublished 6 months ago 3 min read

I used to think life would come with a “Welcome Package”. Like, a PDF guide explaining what to do when you lose friends, fall behind in school, or suddenly realize you’re the only one overthinking an emoji.

It didn’t. So I made my own.

Here’s what you need to read before you grow up too fast.

1. Not everyone will like you and that’s not a problem. That’s protection.

I used to explain myself to people who didn’t even want to understand me. Then I realized: rejection is redirection. If someone doesn’t vibe with your energy, let them scroll past. What’s meant for you will find you and that’s exactly the point.

Protect your peace. Observe who claps when you win without reminding them so stop wasting your precious energy on people who don’t invest back.

2. Do not ignore your gut feeling.

Your intuition is smarter than your overthinking. If something feels off- a situation, a friendship, even an opportunity, then it probably is. You’ll thank yourself later. Trust that bigger, better things are on their way.

3. Healing is not aesthetic.

Healing isn’t just candles and journaling in calligraphy. Sometimes, it’s isolating yourself because your nervous system is exhausted or crying uncontrollably over a memory you thought you passed. Let me remind you: healing is messy, boring and weakening so be gentle with yourself.

4. No one’s really watching.

We think people remember our awkward moments and embarrassing memories from 3 months ago but they don’t. People are too busy overthinking their own lives. Hence, wear that outfit, start that blog, change your vibe and reinvent yourself whenever you want because you owe nobody consistency.

5. Getting your dream life doesn’t guarantee happiness.

You’re finally in that place you used to yearn for : new friends, better opportunities and a more confident version of you and yet, you miss something. The old mess and the familiar chaos. The version of you that existed before the ‘glow-up’. No one talks about this weird ache that hits after you level up and that’s proof you’re human because growth is indeed messy like that so enjoy your moments of darkness before the spotlight!

6. Discipline is louder than motivation.

Saving those aesthetic motivational quotes and inspirational words from Pinterest feel good but discipline is what gets things done. The truth is, you won’t always feel like it but showing up anyways and taking those deep actions is where shift happens. “A journey of a thousand miles begins by taking the first step

7. People treat you based on their lens.

You could be kind, genuine and talented but still be misunderstood or underestimated. Not because you lack value, but because some people see the world through ego, comparison and their own insecurities. Don’t let a stranger’s highlight reel make you question your pace because being the way that you are is enough.

8. Being scared of the future doesn’t mean you’re unprepared.

No one’s ever walked into the unknown with a cheat sheet. It’s normal to feel terrified about what’s next: career, adulthood, change. But fear isn’t weakness. It’s proof that you want a good life and that you actually care so stop feeling guilty.

Life doesn’t get easier but you can get wiser. If this saved you from even one future spiral- save it for later and follow for more
