7 Principles for Teenagers to Become Millionaires

Follow these to achieve results!

By The Big Bad Published about a year ago 4 min read

In today's fast-paced world, becoming a millionaire at a young age might seem like an impossible dream, especially with the constant stream of content on social media showcasing the luxurious lifestyles of those who seem to "have it all." But here's the reality: achieving financial success early in life is not the norm. It's rare and requires dedication, hard work, and a bit of luck. As someone who made their first million at 18 and reached tens of millions by 23, I've learned that a few key principles can make all the difference. These principles won't guarantee success overnight, but they will lay a solid foundation for building wealth over time.

1. To Be a King, You Must First Be a Pawn

One of the biggest misconceptions of today's social media-driven society is that you can jump straight to the top without putting in the work. Many young people see others' success and assume they deserve it just because they want it. But the truth is, you have to earn your stripes. Just like in any sport or job, you start at the bottom, learning and respecting those who have come before you. It’s about understanding the process, paying your dues, and being humble enough to learn from every experience.

I began my journey at 14, taking on small entrepreneurial ventures and learning the ropes by working closely with clients, even when it meant being at their beck and call. The key takeaway here? There’s nothing wrong with starting from the bottom. It's a position of honor where you learn the most valuable lessons. Respect the process, and remember that every great leader once started as a follower.

2. Dress to Elevate

Your appearance can significantly impact how others perceive you, especially when you're young. At a young age, people may already doubt your credibility or experience. Don't give them more reason to dismiss you based on how you dress. Avoid flashy designer labels and trendy streetwear when attending important meetings or events. Instead, aim for a classic, timeless look.

You don't have to break the bank to dress well. A simple, well-fitted black or white t-shirt, trousers, and classic shoes can make a strong statement. As you grow in your career, consider incorporating more formal pieces like blazers and suits. Dressing smartly sends a message that you’re serious, mature, and worthy of respect.

3. Have Something External That Humbles You

Ambition is great, but without humility, it can lead to downfall. It's essential to have something in your life that keeps you grounded, whether it's a challenging hobby like martial arts or the constant ups and downs of business itself. These external forces remind you that you’re not invincible and help you maintain perspective.

For example, I was humbled early on in my career when, at 17, I hired my first employee, who quit within days. It was a harsh lesson that showed me I wasn’t the leader I thought I was. Moments like these teach you resilience, humility, and the importance of constant self-improvement. Without something to keep you grounded, success can quickly turn into arrogance, which can be your worst enemy.

4. No Casual Dating: Serious Relationships Only or Nothing At All

In your teens or early twenties, you have two choices: either commit to a serious relationship with someone who supports your goals or avoid casual dating altogether. Casual dating and flings can be distractions, pulling you away from your prime years to build your future.

If you find a partner who is genuinely supportive and believes in your vision, they can become your biggest ally. However, if you're not in a serious relationship, focus on your goals and use your time wisely. The dating world can be harsh and brutal, so avoid wasting your energy on it when you have more important things to accomplish.

5. Keep Your Circle Small but Your Influence Large

There is a difference between friends and acquaintances. Most people mistake one for the other. Keep your close circle small, filled with people who truly have your back, and build a larger network of acquaintances who know and respect you.

Your circle of influence should be broad, but your inner circle should be tight-knit and trustworthy. Don’t confuse quantity with quality when it comes to relationships. True friends are rare, so value them and make sure they are people who will support you through thick and thin.

6. Understand That God (or the Universe) Will Test You

Becoming successful at a young age is not just about making money—it's about maintaining and growing it. You will be tested to see if you can handle the pressure and the responsibility that comes with wealth. If you cannot, you risk losing everything as quickly as you gained it.

Humility is key. If you don’t humble yourself, life will find a way to do it for you. Always remember to have things in your life that keep you grounded, like mentors, hobbies, or personal challenges. Wealth is not just about accumulation; it's also about growth and sustainability.

7. Invest Early and Wisely

Once you start making money, don’t spend it all on flashy things. Instead, invest it wisely. The key is to get the money away from yourself quickly by putting it into assets that are not easy to liquidate, like real estate or physical gold.

When you're young, the biggest risk to your financial success is often yourself. Avoid the temptation to show off your wealth. Instead, focus on investing in things that will grow over time and provide a solid foundation for future wealth. Remember, people may dismiss your early success as luck, but if you invest wisely, you’ll have the last laugh as your wealth continues to grow.
