2021: The Year of Milestones

One door closes, three more open.

Hi, my name is Bernadette. As I type this, I am currently three days overdue with my first child and am patiently waiting for her to make her grand entrance into this world. Being pregnant throughout most of 2020 has allowed me to set out goals for myself as an individual, a wife and now a soon-to-be mother.

The journey of pregnancy has created in me a lot of different challenges I had to overcome. Before pregnancy, I considered myself a fit and healthy lady rarely worrying about my body image but since pregnancy I developed stretch marks throughout my body, puffed up hands, feet, and face, gained extra water weight and had huge changes in my breasts. This I knew was coming being a package deal with carrying a child but I did not expect the strained relationship it would cause between myself and my body. I am huge on promoting self-love that I knew I had to learn to love myself again through these changes. This commitment I made to myself lead me to understanding the magnificence of life, the changes and suffering we all go through to make way for something grander and greater for us to experience. Although, I haven't met my baby just yet, I loved my body even more so knowing that it has created endless opportunities for me to love myself, my body and my baby. The oppositions and challenges in my life gave me the opportunity to grow, express and extend love.

Now moving forward, I will create home workouts suitable and flexible to mine and baby's timetable, finding inspirational fit mothers to follow and gain tips from, and also setting out a meal plan I am to commit to reaching my personal weight goal. I realise that I must first be an example of the lifestyle that I wish for my child to follow as I can only give to her what I first have within myself.

This year I not only dedicate myself to my health and fitness but also to the growing of my personal business being a life and relationship coach. As a wife to a loving husband in whom I get to share the same values with, I aim to use social media as a platform to help heal relationships and people in genuine need. From my personal experience, I use to seek love outside of myself which lead me from heartbreak to heartbreak because of the expectations I created about this idea of love. In a world where everybody seeks love, it is often sought outside the individual rather than first seeing it and having it within themselves. As I said earlier, I can only give what I first have in me. So, this year is a year that I commit to sharing the failures of my past in hopes of creating success for the future of others.

Health and fitness are not only to do with the body but also the mind. A resolution I have personally created is practically applying the inspirational and eye-opening books I have read to my life. If we don't use the knowledge we learned, then we lose it and from my personal experience, the more I learn about new things through reading, the more my mind expands and is open to new possibilities the world offers. This to me is health and fitness to my mind which in turn will move my body in directions to reach my goals more effectively, efficiently and also with a strong, disciplined mind-set.

Thank you for taking the time to read my fresh starts.
