Self-belief is defined as a person's belief in their ability to complete tasks and to achieve their goals. Without it, success becomes near impossible. If one doesn't have faith in their own abilities, potential, and talent, then how can one honestly expect to ever achieve success, or even a life filled with happiness, prosperity, and fulfillment, for that matter? It's actually quite surprising, saddening, and disappointing, that so many people fail to believe in themselves, and lack that trust in what they are capable of achieving, because within each and every one of us lies a mountain of potential, ability, and talent, just waiting to be unearthed. I talk a lot in my blog entries about the purchasing lottery tickets, and how so many people are happy to invest money into playing lotto each week, despite the fact they have a 1 in 8 million chance of actually winning that division 1 prize, but yet they wont invest money into achieving their own goals, because they perceive that as being a risk. Go figure! I suppose that comes back to laziness, because even despite the odds, they still have that minute chance of winning a significant amount of money, without barely having to lift a finger to do so, whilst on the flip side, working towards achieving their goals takes time, effort, and hard work. What I find interesting about this though is that, not only does it highlight the massive number of lazy people who go about seeking wealth without working hard for it, but also the massive number of people who believe in the odds of 1 in 8 million, over believing in themselves and their own abilities to create their own wealth, off the back of their talent and potential. I know that laziness is one of the driving factors behind why people don't make a concerted effort to pursue their goals, and why they don't strive to design a future enriched with happiness, satisfaction, and prosperity for themselves, but we can't dismiss the two biggest factors and success killers as the reasons either, being fear and doubt.

Now we know about the various fears that people have, when it comes to taking on the journey towards achieving their goals, such as the fear of failure, fear of losing financially, and fear of being judged and criticized by others, but let's have a look at doubt. One of the biggest reasons why people will deny proceeding with an opportunity to pursue their dreams, or flatly refuse to chase down their goals, is because they don't believe it's possible to achieve. Some believe that success and prosperity only happens to the "lucky people" of the world, or for those born in the right family, or for those who are privileged enough to have the right connections. They honestly cannot visualize themselves obtaining the success and prosperity they desire, and it's merely just a wish and dream to them. Another big reason for so many people though, is they just don't believe they are good enough to pull of such success. They genuinely believe that if they dared try, they will only end up failing, or being rejected. As it is, much of the time that people do strive for their goals and success, they do fail, and they do get rejected, over and over again, in fact. It happens to an overwhelming majority of people, because overnight and hasty success is extremely rare. Failure, rejection, setback, challenges, and adversity are all just a part of the journey to success, and more people need to comprehend and accept that fact. None of these are the final chapter of the story though, not unless they are made to be, by those who choose to give up and quit. So many people will turn away from pursuing their goals and success though because they firmly believe they don't have the required knowledge, skill, and ability. Because such a journey is new to them, and one that requires them to step out of their comfort zone, they are filled with fear. They are concerned of making a fool of themselves because they don't have the knowledge, skill, or ability they believe they need to succeed. How will we ever know if we never try though?

The only way we learn, grow, and develop in life is by doing new things, experiencing different things, and yes, even failing. The only way in which our true potential, skill, and talent is revealed, is when we are forced into situations where we need to act, we need to overcome challenges and failures, when we need to keep finding solutions to problems, and when we need to keep persevering. When something is so important that we simply mustn't give up, and we just have to keep on trekking that journey, that's when we will find out how creative, talented, and skillful we really are. It's our natural instinct and survival mode that kicks in, that pushes us to act, and when we act, we then learn, and when we learn, we then grow and develop. We can genuinely amaze ourselves by what we are capable of, but because so many people refuse to step out of their comfort zone, due to fear, doubt, and laziness, so much potential and talented never becomes showcased to the world. You need to have the courage to step out of your comfort zone, and do what you need to do to achieve your goals and create a future blessed with success, happiness, and prosperity.
