Ian Burkley was no ordinary four-year-old, he was an immensely talented and skilled little prodigy. Some might even say he was the perfect child: obedient, mannerable, Intelligent, and overall a bundle of energy and optimism. Ian was very inquisitive for his age, and his comprehension skills were above par. Anything he Set his mind on accomplishing he succeeded and excelled one hundred plus percent. Ian was raised primarily by his mother Dezaria Huntington. Dezaria was a young mom who had suffered sexual trauma in her past that resulted in her conceiving and giving birth to Irish twins. The eldest a mentally dysfunctional Boy she named Gabriel, born on January fourteenth. The second child a beautiful narcissistic baby girl, born October fourteenth whom she named Crystal.
Both children were born during a time Dezaria was struggling to free herself from a sexually abusive incest relationship with her thirty-eight-year-old cousin Jordan. Dezaria was also incredibly intelligent and optimistic. She was given the ability to write mind blowing stories and create music that wiggled its way into your heart. Due to her years of sexual and physical abuse she became astoundingly good at hiding her own negative emotions, which at some point in life heightened her natural empathetic response to others. Although Dezaria was smart she had really low self esteem and focused on making everyone else around her feel happier than she could hope to feel herself.
At the age of fifteen she lost both of her parents: Her paraplegic mother was killed during a hospital visit with Saint James Medical Center. Her mom had a very bad attitude and tended to make enemies where ever she went. Word on the street Badora was insulting one of the nurses before she turned violent, so the nurse requested permission from the security guard to sedate and restrain her. How you need to restrain a person who is already paralyzed and how a security guard who has no medical experience or authorization what so ever could make that type of call beats me, but it sure made for a great lawsuit. Lyonell, Dezarias’ dad got so much money out that hospital he was able to buy the building and replace the entire staff. Of course that’s what he could have done what he actually did is buy Dezaria a four year supply of outfits, assuming she would stay that shape for the next four years of high school put away about ten thousand dollars in a savings fund that she couldn’t touch until she turned thirty-five and left her in the “oh so loving” care of one of her family members while he ran away with some new chick who was giving him twins.
Dezaria had every right to be Depressed and angry; her mom just died and her dad dropped a whole bunch of cash on her and then just dipped on her. Honestly anger probably isn’t even the right word. Dezaria felt Distraught and abandoned or for a lack of better words internally fucked up. She turned to writing stories and creating music to escape the pain and anger that she felt inside. Dezaria was very pretty, somewhat an uneven skin toned but shapely. She had thick thighs and a medium torso weighed about a hundred and fourty pounds and stood about 5’4 but she wasn’t a big hit with the high school boys. She always ended up attracting guys two or three times her age, including her cousin Jordan who began physically abusing her a month after she moved in then proceeded to sexual abuse her two months later on her sixteenth birthday.
After two years of sexual and physical abuse from her cousin, Dezaria got pregnant by Jordan with Gabriel. The physical abuse stopped for the term of the pregnancy, but the sexual abuse continued and increased in frequency. Dezaria was still going to school and cultivating her skills she told no one of the problems she was facing at home. Nine months came and went, and Gabriel was born January 14th 2006 at 6:48am weighing a whopping 8lbs. Released from the hospital three days later the sexual abuse continued and she became pregnant again with Crystal. October 14th 2006 at 4:32am Crystal came popping out the womb so fast the nurse couldn’t catch her and she hit her head on the bed railing. Dezaria believes it was that hit on the head that led her child to be narcissist, that and the fact that her incestuous father was one also and he had strong genes. Dezaria endured the sexual abuse from her cousin for the remainder of high school life. But she never gave up bettering herself or dreaming of a better life.
Four years later after she graduated high school Dezaria ran away to a state university with her two kids to study psychology. After everything she had been through, she wanted to be a part of someone else’s healing process. In Dezarias freshman year of college she attracted the attention and affection of her English teacher Jafari Burkley. Jafari was the first person Dezaria ever opened up to about her past. Jafari was thirty five at the time of their encounter skin as dark as night and piercing eyes that seemed to peer into your soul. Jafari saw the potential in Dezaria he knew that she had great potential to be remarkably successful even with her two kids. As the months past Jafari and Dezaria grew closer and closer intense infatuation turned into love and their love produced Ian Burkley.
Ian was so intelligent and so full of life it was as if he had been to earth before. At only eight months Ian was standing up on his own and walking around. He learned the basic words like mama daddy and mine at nine months by twelve months Ian was smarter than the average kinder Gardner. All of Ian’s achievements and milestones were recorded in a little black book with photos to reminisce on in later years. Problems quickly arose in paradise when Jafari lost his teaching job after word got out he was having sexual relations with a student. Dezaria was told she’d have to redo all the classes she had with Mr. Burkley just to make sure there was no favoritism involved. Tensions quickly rose between the couple. Jafari turned irrational and blamed Dezaria for the loss of his teaching career and the damage to his reputation. Arguments occurred daily, yelling seemed to never stop, and Jafari was so angry about his loss he started to sabotage Dezaria education. He would refuse to help her financially knowing she was fully dependent on him.
When Ian turned two Jafari left him and his mother for his ex-wife stating she would surely be less drama than Dezaria and her kids. Dezaria now heartbroken and only one year away from getting her bachelor’s degree had to drop out of college to support her family. She got a full-time job working at Burger King and still struggled to make ends meet or give her children the life they were accustomed to. Dezaria never gave up hope though and she tried to encourage her children as well, there were nights she had to leave the children home alone because she had to work and no childcare. She was dependent on her eight-year-old twins to help raise and educate Ian as well as take care of the house. Dezaria felt like all her kids were incredibly smart and very competent so she thought it simply a matter of showing them how to do things the adult way. She wanted her kids to be self sufficient and not have to depend on anyone the way she had had to in the past. Two more years passed, and Gabriel grew resentful of all the responsibility placed on him he was only ten but he felt like his childhood was stolen from him. He didn’t like the fact that he was taking care of his little brother and that Ian was the only one allowed to be a kid. Gabriel tried to talk Crystal into running away with him one night while their mom was at work and Ian was down for a nap. Crystal did not want to run away because she was afraid of where they would end up. Gabriel told her she can do whatever she wants he’s going to leave and make a better life for himself. Crystal became terrified and called her mother who didn’t answer she called several more times then called 911 and frantically told them how her twin brother was trying to run away and how she couldn’t get a hold of her mother. The Officer on the phone asked for her name and her address and sent officers to her within fifteen minutes. Once the officers arrived they called Dezaria and didn’t get a response either, they asked the children if they knew which Burger King their mother worked at. Crystal gave them the address and they sent a squad car up to her job.
Two officers walked through the doors of an overly crowed burger king now understanding why she may not have answered the phone.” Is there a Dezaria Huntington here” asked one of the officers in an unfriendly tone. Dezaria looked up with panic in her eyes. “That’s me she stated in a soft tone “how can I help you today officer? Ms. Huntington you’re under arrest for child endangerment and child neglect.” “We received a call from your eight-year-old daughter that her twin brother was attempting to run away and they could not reach you after multiple attempts. Once officers arrived on the scene, they reported unsafe living conditions and no adult or person over the age of fourteen supervising the minor kids. We have to take you to the station for questioning.” Dezaria felt angry and scared but she complied with the officers, she was not even aware all this was going on and she wanted to kick herself for allowing this to happen. They Detained her over night and informed her that her children had been placed in the care of child protective services.
The kids were separated and placed in individual foster homes, Gabriel became overly aggressive towards his foster parents and viciously destructive. Crystals narcissistic characteristics started to bloom in her foster home. But Ian was calm and calculated he was placed in the home of a successful artist who allowed him to exercise his creative genius. Ians foster mom entered him in many competitions for art and spelling, he had many great achievements and successes. But Ian longed to be back with his mother. He asked his foster mom if it was only a matter of money keeping him from his mother? She responded by telling him that was a part of it. Ian saw an advertisement for a talent show whose first-place winner would receive a check for $20,000 and asked if he could participate in it. His foster mom was all for it, on the night of the show she helped him set up his art equipment on stage and recorded him sculpting and painting a life-sized replica of his mother Dezaria with her arms opened in a hugging gesture. The crowd was astounded that a four-year-old possessed such talent.
Ian easily won the competition and the grand prize of $20,000 which he gave to his mother for her to get him and his siblings back. Dezaria took teary eyed photos of her son that night feeling proud and nostalgic. Adding yet another glorious achievement to Ians little black book. As the months went on things started looking up for the family. Dezaria completed her services, got her children back and inherited her savings fund she used to complete college. Gabriel started therapy and got all the fun of his missed childhood back; Crystal became a child model making millions and Ian continued winning cash prizes that he split between his mom and foster parent.
