How to Maintain Yourself During Vacation
Hello my little lovelies! So recently I went on a vacation to my parents' where the word healthy doesn't even exist. With my new healthy lifestyle changes, it was very difficult to integrate that healthy lifestyle with the cooking that your mother makes that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But you know it's so unhealthy for you but you eat it anyway because it's delicious and come on, would you deny your mom's cooking? I don't think so. So luckily, I only gained half a pound despite my mother's best efforts and I will share with you what I did to enjoy mom's cooking but stay semi-healthy at the same time.

The Darker Side of Traveling
I have been traveling internationally for 7 years, and never have I been so close to death. Peru - Aug 2017 Aug 3rd - Day one: It started on my second day in Cusco. Full body shivers and tingles, super strange, unidentifiable sensations. Did not quite know what to make of it other than it felt similar to anxiety although I was not anxious.

A Glimpse of My Pilgrimage
For the past two years, I have been struggling with my seated meditation practice. I was given my personal mantra from my teacher in 2011 at Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA. It has been an amazing relationship as I have gone from being an excited child to feeling like it isn’t worth the time to missing it and wanting nothing more than to sit and meditate and yet found it difficult. Prior to my personal mantra I do an starting mantra that my teacher has given me to continue to nourish my body, mind and soul. However, this mantra was so difficult and became my struggle for the past two years.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex developmental disorder that "affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. How to Pick Up Any Language, Anywhere, and Better Your Soul
Quick question: what is that thing, that marvelous thing, that makes living in another culture so... soul-satisfying? There is a Chinese proverb: "to learn a language is to have another window from which to view the world".

Culture in 70% of the World Involves Being In or Under the Water
Call it Snorkeling or Freediving, it is a sport most families could enjoy together. While it will be more fun, more rapidly, if you begin with an instructor for at least one pool session for basic skills, snorkeling is close to intuitive for many people, meaning this is an adventure you can enjoy almost immediately.

24 Hours in a Buddhist Monastery
The revered Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh once said, “You don’t have to make any effort during walking meditation, because it is enjoyable. You are there, body and mind together. You are fully alive, fully present in the here and the now. With every step, you touch the wonders of life that are in you and around you. When you walk like that, every step brings healing. Every step brings peace and joy, because every step is a miracle.” Sounds pretty good, right?

Zika, West Nile and Malaria..Oh My!
Traveling is stressful under the best of circumstances, but once a warning from the CDC comes into the mix, it becomes a whole different type of stress. Once upon a time, there were murmurings of the Zika virus. Nothing too specific, just tales of babies born with small heads. Didn't seem to be anything that would effect us in the great USA, but then, somehow, the virus started appearing in Brazil, then Puerto Rico and was getting closer and closer to the greater population. Most recently, a public health alert was issued. "The CDC has issued an alert for travel to areas where Zika virus is spreading, which now includes Miami-Dade County, Florida. Travelers who are pregnant or considering pregnancy should consult a doctor."
