Feeling Pain? Here's a Hardy Hibiscus Hug
August 18 Monday Morning Huddle

Good morning and welcome to the August 18 edition of my Monday Morning Huddle!
Today, it's all about the Hibiscus flower and its lending a hand energy in alleviating pain. Whether physically or emotionally, if you are suffering from pain of any sort, then this post might help a little- at least, that is my hope.
Unfortunately, pain often feels like second nature to me these days. Yesterday marked six months since my work-related accident, involving a medial meniscus tear. I am out of work and still waiting for approval from Workers 'Compensation for my knee surgery. Things have escalated to a level three request after two denials, and my emotions have been all over the place while I try to remain patient.
Between feeling neglected and not taken seriously, my physical pain has worsened. A recent fall at home and pain extending to my hip have given more than my body a run for its money- my emotions are suffering too! I try to suck it up, so to speak, and be strong, but over the weekend, enough is enough became too much to bear, and I broke down over the phone while talking to my youngest daughter.
Collecting my thoughts and regaining self-composure meant doing one of my favorite things: going outside into nature for a much-needed piece of her abundant nurture.
And I found it located in one of my neighbors' gardens in the form of a pink Hibiscus.
I am fortunate to have access to a variety of flora-rich landscapes in my neighborhood, and I make it my business to visit them accordingly, absorbing what I call medicinal spiritual energy vibes.
Instantly, my attention turned to the radiant, showy petals and the soothing feeling the pink emitted from its bloom. It felt like a hug, an embrace from not only nature, but the divine. It was exactly what I needed in that precise moment. Furthermore, I knew this gift had to be the focus of this week's Monday Morning Huddle.
A gift from me to you delivered via spirit.
I photographed the Hibiscus this morning, but before heading to the garden, I was a little worried the lovely pink ones might have caught the bad side of last night's winds here in New York. To my delight, the flowers went undisturbed, all standing just as proud and beautiful as the day before. Then I realized: Hibiscus are resilient and thrive in various conditions.
This thought drew a not-so-coincidental parallel to the physical world and my own physical being.
Then I thought about others, their pain, all the things people go through physically and emotionally, and the hug I felt from nature paired with spirit the day before felt even more facilitating. And I knew I had to make it known that resilience is available, it's waiting, it's waving its hand to all.
Pink Hibiscus and its wide open petals remind us not only that the divine embraces us through our most trying times, but also nudges us to enfold ourselves.
Self-love and self-compassion anoint the five-petal flower, calling our attention inward to the heart and sacral chakras, guiding us to emotional healing, balance, and softer sentiments, serenading among the louder notes of pain.

The Hibiscus aligns with love, feminine energy, purity, spiritual awakening, and resilience.
The Hibiscus is a common centerpiece in rituals and herbal remedies, especially tea. Used during meditation, it provides focus and clarity, protection, and healing properties.
My hope and wish with today's huddle is for you, the reader, to accept the virtual hug, not only from me, but from nature and spirit.
If you happened to stop by today and are suffering from any type of pain, I am so sorry you are going through this tough time right now, but I understand the feeling.
Trust and believe this time is only temporary. Turn to nature for alleviation and allow yourself a let-go moment when your attention turns to something different, like a flower, perhaps even a Hibiscus.
Enfold yourself and know that a hug from a higher power is always close by.
Have a beautiful week, and remember to get outside!

It's amazing how little things in life when we stop and slow down or are forced to stop and slow down in your case. We can wind up finding how even the little things in life can teach us.
useful
Thank you for sharing this with us
The way you've turned your own struggle into a source of hope for others is a real gift. I'm sending you all the best and a virtual hug...................
A beauty of a flower to focus on. And the hibiscus too 😁 I miss them as I'd see them all the time where I grew up. They are a welcome sight. I feel for you with your health challenges. It does really help to get out in nature for healing. Soooo NATURE for everybody!
So beautiful and touching and so real and so many of us can relate. I tend to drink rose hibiscus tea for an immune boost I love how you found a hug in them also smelling roses when times get too hard day by day helps to still keep heart open for more love awakening i felt so much pain from others and my own situation recently. Your writing and sharing makes me feel very close and not lonely anymore entirely being rejected and not taken seriously often make us feel even worser I hope things will go into the better direction and finally you will find a better, stable phase where you can enjoy the being the beauty and forget about all the suffering, pain and struggle will solve and melt away! Congratulations on Top story !
I have just found your Huddles through your Top Story (congrats, btw!) and I'm looking forward to reading more of them! The Hibiscus sounds like such a resilient flower on top of being gorgeous.

Beautiful work! Spiritually refreshing & inspiring!
Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
How interesting the humble Hibbiscus is. Take care of that tear, i did not and am paying for later in lie.
What a heartfelt and resonant piece, Marilyn—your vulnerability in sharing the raw edges of physical and emotional pain truly draws the reader in, reminding us that healing often blooms in unexpected places. I especially appreciated how you wove the hibiscus's resilience into your narrative; it's a hardy perennial that thrives in diverse climates, much like the human spirit you describe, adapting through dormancy in harsh winters only to burst forth with those vibrant, trumpet-shaped blooms.
I have one of these - and a pink one too. I wrote a story on it - my happiness bush. It was originally in my son's memory garden, and then it was planted in my back yard. It was stunning this year, and it just gets prettier and prettier every year. Nicely done article
Omggg Marilyn, my heart breaks so much for you 😭😭😭😭😭 Sending you lots of love and hugs 🥺❤️ How are you feeling now? Oh wow, I never paused to think how resilient hibiscus are. May we all be strong enough to be like the hibiscus!
I never knew about the awesome properties of the Hibiscus. It's a beautiful flower. And I accept nature's hug. Hope you feel better by doing so too. I also really hope you get good news from your next appointment. It's sad knowing this has been going on for six months. Thank you so much, for sharing, Marilyn! 🌺
Thanks for the virtual hug. I get outside every couple of hours to walk the dogs even though I do not want to due to high temp and humidity in Central Louisiana. Hope everything starts to go better for you.
