Here are six tips for better sleep that should help you catch those Zzz's:
1. Sleep in complete darkness
In addition to the obvious risks of sleeping with lights on, exposure to even dim light from electronic devices late at night has been found to decrease the release of melatonin, which is a hormone that regulates other hormones, as well as our moods. At night, your brain should be producing melatonin signals to start feeling drowsy. Any kind of light can disrupt this, so try using an eye mask if necessary to block out all other types of stimulations.
2. Get up on a schedule
Getting a set, regular bedtime is a good way to establish a healthy weekly cycle. This will let your body know when it's time for sleep and when it's time to get up. Follow the same routine every night, and you'll find it easier to go to bed when your body is tired rather than watching TV or playing on your phone until the wee hours of the morning.
3. Avoid caffeine in the evenings
While many people think that having an occasional cup of coffee after lunch won't affect their sleep, caffeine actually sticks around in our bodies for about six hours after we drink it. It is best to avoid drinking coffee later in the day if possible.
4. Exercise regularly
Doing physical activities has long been recommended as a way to help people sleep better at night. It turns out that there is truth behind this; regular exercise does help relieve stress and relax the body, both of which are important for ensuring good sleep.
5. Maintain a regular schedule (for meals)
Being able to eat whenever you like might seem like the best kind of freedom, but it is not really practical when it comes to getting enough sleep at night. If you have to get up at a certain time every day, it's best to have all of your meals around the same time that you would expect to be going to bed.
6. Don't go to bed hungry or stuffed
Just like with eating, there are some basic rules for sleeping that should be followed when possible. It is not a good idea to go to bed hungry and it is also not a good idea to go to bed stuffed. The best thing for your body is to have an empty stomach when you sleep so that your digestive system has time to rest and do its work without getting distracted by hunger pangs.
A healthy night's sleep really does matter, so it's important to take the time to do whatever you can to get your body in good shape so that it can provide you with all of the benefits sleep has to offer.
Sleep is very important for people's daily life. However, many people cannot get enough sleep during the night. In order to have a good sleep every night, it is important to know how to have a good habit .
