Recent reports from health organizations illustrates that more and more are getting health issues. Know how to maintain your health.

There are plenty of different ways to get fit, lose weight, and stay healthy, but these 10 are considered the best by experts around the world. They’re easy to incorporate into your daily routine and they each offer numerous health benefits that will improve the quality of your life. If you want to stay healthy, try adding one or more of these strategies into your weekly schedule!

1) Get enough sleep

Sleep is essential for health, and getting enough of it means you’ll have more energy throughout your day. So don’t be that person snoozing in class or on their lunch break. Be healthy and get some shut-eye by making sure you get an appropriate amount of sleep every night. That way, you’ll have plenty of time in your day to enjoy a healthy diet and exercise regularly!

2) Exercise daily

Exercise is essential for your physical and mental health. Do not fall victim to a sedentary lifestyle. Set aside time every day, even if it’s just 20 minutes, to get some exercise. Physical activity can help improve sleep, decrease depression and anxiety, boost energy levels, and more! Find something you like doing such as walking or running and make it a part of your routine. You will start feeling better almost immediately!

3) Eat balanced meals

We all know that eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals is a good way to stay healthy. Balancing your meals gives you a well-rounded intake of nutrients, including carbs, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. It’s not just important for your body—balancing your meals can also help you mentally by giving you a routine and making sure you get at least three meals a day.

4) Eat whole foods

Eating foods that are as close to their natural state as possible is probably one of your best bets for staying healthy and avoiding disease. Whole foods are often nutrient-dense, meaning they have a lot of vitamins and minerals without a lot of calories. Processed foods, on the other hand, have a large amount of calories but not much nutrition. If you want to stay healthy and manage your weight easily, try to consume whole foods most often.

5) De-stress daily

Stress can take a toll on your physical and mental health, so it’s important to find ways to manage stress in our daily lives. For example, limit alcohol and caffeine consumption, both of which can aggravate anxiety and lead to heart palpitations; also avoid smoking or recreational drugs, which have been linked with long-term heart disease.

6) Develop good habits

Good habits go a long way in helping you keep yourself healthy. In fact, it’s been estimated that they can add years onto your life. Bad habits, on the other hand, have been linked to health issues such as heart disease and depression. To find out which ones you should be aware of, check out these common health bad habits and how to fix them for good.

7) Maintain a positive outlook

While it’s impossible to predict what challenges lie ahead, a good attitude can go a long way toward improving your health. Positive thoughts help us beat stress, ward off illness and bounce back from injury. And we’re not talking fake positivity here—you don’t have to pretend that everything is perfect in order for positive thinking to work its magic. Simply identifying one positive thing about each day is enough to give you an edge.

8) Drink plenty of water

When we drink enough water, our cells are well hydrated and can carry out functions more efficiently. On average, women should consume around eight glasses of water a day (about 96 ounces) and men need closer to 13 glasses (around 160 ounces). And remember: It’s not just about staying hydrated—it’s about what you eat as well.

9) Manage stressors in your life

Stress is a natural reaction when your body senses a threat, whether it’s physical or emotional. But long-term stress can cause serious health problems, such as cardiovascular disease and digestive issues. To reduce stress in your life, you need to find healthy outlets for your negative emotions. The best way to do that is by connecting with other people.

10) Eat mindfully

No, I’m not talking about giving up burgers and fries. What I’m really saying is: Pay attention to what you’re eating—and stop when you feel full. (In fact, have fun at your next meal by listening for that feeling of satisfaction in your stomach.) Mindful eating will help you lose weight and keep it off long-term. It works like magic!
