Counterproductive: Zelensky advisor responds to remarks made by the mayor of Kyiv

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, has argued with Volodymyr Zelensky's aide after he stated that Ukraine might have to give over land to Russia to ensure peace. To push through a peace agreement with Moscow, Donald Trump has increased pressure on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to make significant concessions.
"To cede territory is one of the possibilities. It's unfair. However, it might be a temporary solution for peace, Mr. Klitschko told the BBC. However, the former heavyweight boxing champion went on to say that the Ukrainian people would "never accept occupation."
The "counterproductive" remarks, according to Volodymyr Zelensky's adviser Serhi Leshchenko, "violate the Ukrainian constitution," asserting the country's territorial sovereignty.
Just hours prior, Mr Trump claimed that an agreement between Russia and Ukraine was very close, but he accused his Ukrainian counterpart of extending the "killing field" after he refused to give Russia Crimea.
In defiance of US pressure, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has defended "courageous" Mr. Zelensky, stating that Ukraine must be given the freedom to determine the conditions of any peace agreement with Russia, which runs counter to Donald Trump's objectives.

How willing the coalition turns out to be will determine whether the "coalition of the willing" succeeds. Ukraine still has a chance to overcome the odds if its ad hoc leaders, Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron, can motivate their supporters even half as much as Mr. Zelensky has. Although they could not beat Crimea shortly, this means that President Putin will be forced to negotiate a more satisfying and sustainable peace.
