A poetic ode to the mundane
Of boredom and ennui - Quaint unreliableness

'I'm tired of sleeping'...quoth boredom
'I don't really care'...yawned ennui
'Wake up, you lazy louts'! Shouted God
'Go do something useful with your time'.
Boredom and ennui tumbled off their chairs
Much affrighted...
The dynamic duo of drowsiness sighed audibly.
'Let's just make some trouble', Ennui suggested, hoping God had turned his head away
'Fine by me, what shall we do today'. Boredom mused impishly, rubbing his hands with glee.
Ennui cocked her head and smiled, she knew just the thing.
As clocks ticked and yawned, Boredom and Ennui found their stride. They wore mismatched socks and wrinkled frowns, They jigged and tango-ed through sleepy towns.
Boredom, with eyes like wilted lettuce leaves, Said, “Let’s count dust motes on the eaves. Or perhaps we’ll alphabetize the rain, And teach the snails to waltz in vain".
Ennui, draped in dripping melancholy, giggled languidly, “I’d rather watch paint dry. Let’s compose sonnets for forgotten socks, And ponder the existential plight of rocks".
Together they sat on a creaky swing, Discussing the ennui that life can bring: “Why,” Boredom mused, “do clouds look bored? Perhaps they dream of being thunderstorms".
Ennui replied, “And stars...those celestial blinks...They’re just cosmic yawns, I think. Their constellations? Mere doodles in space, Like a bored artist’s sketches erased".
They played Scrabble with vowels and sighs, And invented a game called “Stare at Pies". Boredom won by spelling “Zzz” with a Z, While Ennui napped, dreaming of chamomile tea.
They wandered through libraries, half-asleep, Reading titles like “The Art of Counting Sheep". Boredom whispered, “Let’s alphabetize the fog, And teach the wind to polka with a log".
Ennui, ever the philosopher profound, Pondered the silence of a snail-bound hound: “Does it dream of chasing existential tails, Or simply yearn for more interesting trails”?
And so they sluggishly meandered through the dullest days, Their laughter creeping through rafters, in cobblestone pathways and cobwebbed hallways.
Boredom and Ennui, peculiar indeed, finding joy in the mundane, a straggly pair.
If you ever spot a yawning cloud or a contemplative rock, think of Boredom and Ennui—they’re probably behind it. 😄

'I said, find something constructive to do with your time, you lazy galoots'! God bellowed again from on high, as Boredom and Ennui again fell asleep upon the daisies and dandelions.
Up they jumped, they packed their bags, donned their best shoes and decided to venture out where God could not find them.
Into the dimly lit world of cinema they went, where Boredom and Ennui don their monocles and become the most discerning critics of theaters near and far:
“Boredom and Ennui at the Matinee”
The drowsy pair sat in the velvet seat of the theatre, Boredom with a popcorn bucket, Ennui with a vacant stare. The silver screen flickered, an eerie yawn, And they leaned in, ready to critique with gusto.
Boredom, ever practical, cleared his throat: “Behold, the epic saga of ‘Popcorn Kernel Afloat’! A gripping tale of suspense, you see, Will it sink or swim? The tension—it’s killing me".
Ennui, draped in existential musings, sighed: “Ah, ‘Romantic Comedy #47’—love, denied. Two souls meet, banter, then part ways, Their chemistry fizzling like flat cola on lazy days".
They judged the theater’s ambiance with disdain: “The carpet smells of forgotten dreams and pee,” Boredom explained. “And the air conditioning? A glacier’s breath, Chilling our ennui to the brink of death".
"Ah, good one there, with the ennui joke". She chuckled.
Ennui squinted at the screen, unimpressed: “Is this ‘Art House Film #12’ or a nap contest? Subtitles crawl like snails on a marathon run, And the plot? A Möbius strip...no escape, no fun.

They whispered critiques in hushed monotone: “Plot holes big enough for a dirigible to fly through”! “Actors emote like damp socks left in the rain". “Dialogue? More wooden than a forest of bonsai".
When the hero kissed the heroine, Boredom scoffed: “Predictable! I’ve seen more passion in a cough.” Ennui, ever the philosopher, mused: “Perhaps love is just a typo in the cosmic news".
They debated the merits of 3D glasses: “Enhanced reality or ocular oppression”? “Is depth perception overrated”? “Can we return these for a refund on our depression"?
As credits rolled, Boredom stretched his legs: “Another cinematic masterpiece, my friend"! Ennui, half-asleep, replied with a yawn: “Indeed. Let’s go alphabetize the popcorn bins".
And so they shuffled out, critics supreme, Their verdict scrawled in invisible ink on the screen: “Two thumbs down, a collective sigh, But hey, at least the nachos didn’t make us cry".
A poetic ode to the mundane!

Love the constant Witt. I read it almost like a folktale. “Is love just a type, in the cosmic news?” You made so many emotional concepts so tangible with your descriptions simply wonderful
Well, this is different, funny and a breath of fresh air from the ordinary. Good luck.
