Renaissance Festival War Stories September 7-8, 2024
...Continued from weekend 3 Saturday was the 6th annual Un-Official Pride Day at The Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Nearly 1400 people rsvp'd to our Facebook event. It gets bigger each year and we are so glad to love and be loved in the communities: Renaissance and LBGTQIA+. Shops decked themselves out, acts wore their best rainbow, flag, or pride duds, and the patrons take their garb to the next level. While I'm glad to be the nexus of the event annually, I am not the true origin. PRIDE doesn't happen without all the people willing to be generous in a community to show who they are and will not be hurt or repressed for a safe love or lifestyle.

Small Kindness, Big Impact
Small acts of kindness may appear as nothing, yet they do hold immense potential to light up anyone's day, alter one's perspective in life, or even remake the community. A simple smile, some kind words, or just being able to help another person creates an ongoing ripple effect in that chain of warmth and goodwill, reaching far beyond that one simple gesture. They remind one, in this overwhelming world, that there is a kinship in humanity and a difference one may make, because even the smallest acts of kindness count.

Navigating the Fear of Aging and the Loss of Self
I felt drowned in brightness, sterile sanctuary that this dentist's office was-home to raw fear under the white gleam of tile and the acrid scent of disinfectant. I sat, waiting for the inevitable drill, flipping through a dog-eared magazine without really seeing the pages. A soft buzz came from a TV in the corner-morning show, one of those all-fluff-and-smiles things. I wasn't paying attention until a segment caught my ear-a birthday shoutout to viewers over 95.

Embracing the Imperfections: A Lesson from My Mother
I wondered how many times she didn’t enjoy the beach because her mind was insecurely counting her shiny stripes Our worldview and self-perception are deeply influenced by media, personal interactions, and the comments of those around us.
