friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
Finding A Place Where I belong
It all started in the fall of last year when I started going to college at the University of North Florida. I was checking out everything that was going at the campus one day and had come across a group of people with a canopy and drinks. They were playing sports at The Green which was in front of The Fine Arts Building. I started talking to some of them and a feeling of happiness came over me the longer I stayed there with them. Against what I would normally do, I decided to stay and hang out and play games. I am happy I did because I got to know some of them better. Since that first day, I have gone back and played with them every time I had gotten the chance. I played all sorts of games with them and even learned new ones. Each time, I got to meet new people and have fun.

The Treasures
The Letter Bertie placed her mail on the kitchen counter, glancing at bills, advertisements for Chinese food restaurants, and nail salons, and that’s when she noticed a small handwritten package addressed to Ms Bertilla Hart sitting on her stoop. She opened it curiously and read:

Timothy Boykin: A Rising Star
TikTok isn't just a place for dance trends and dumb jokes; it's a place where people from different communities can express themselves and spread awareness about the issues that they face. Just about every marginalized group from the black community to the LGBT community has used the platform to speak out and spread proper information. Another group that has used the app to spread awareness is the autism community, which I just so happen to be a part of. Back in August of 2019, I came across a video of a black autistic guy dancing around while subtitles displayed some of the things that he struggles with like focusing and making friends. The video concluded with subtitles saying that he was still talented and intelligent even with all those struggles. I didn't know any other autistics on TikTok, so I followed him. He followed me back and he is now one of my best friends, even though we still haven't met in person. His advocacy for autistics and all-around good attitude has garnered him about fifty-five thousand followers, and he is loved by the autistic community for using his voice to advocate for them. For this story, I interviewed (via video chat) an individual that the world needs to know. Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome singer, actor, author, activist, and living inspiration Timothy "Tim" Boykin to the stage.

The Painter
I like to take be outside when I take my lunch break. In California, it’s always nice to get a break from the office to get some fresh air. There are always things to do and calls to make, but sometimes I just need a breather. I take out my little black moleskin book. I know, I take out this tiny little book of notes of things that I need to get done for personal reasons or marketing firm related shenanigans.

The Bravest Girl I Know. First Place in Black in Business Challenge.
When I first met Marisa Rodriguez I had no idea how impactful she would be to my life. At the time she was just a brown skinned, curly haired, skinny little girl who for some odd reason was fond of wearing overalls. She has since grown into an intelligent, practical, and nurturing mother, who is still oddly fond of wearing overalls. Her journey from the heartache of a single parent home, to a woman dedicated to raising her own child in a home brimming with love is one that gives me hope daily. Her sense for business and desire to sell a quality product (which genuinely aids those who purchase it) is something I’ve come to truly admire. Her lifelong battle with mental illness is a lesson I think we all could benefit from. She is someone I believe should be celebrated for rising above what most thought she would achieve.

THRASHIN' ABOUT
ACT 1 Darkness. A flame strikes up and lights the end of a blunt, then flicks off. An inhale makes the blunt end glow, highlighting the lower half of a nose pair and of red female lips. The lips blow a cloud of smoke that envelops everything. The smoke turns cartoonish, where an 80’s speed metal song starts to play, as a blue pickup with angel-like wings bursts through. It resembles a 1958 Chevy ½ Cameo Carrier and has two young men’s silhouettes inside of the smoke-filled cab. The truck flies from front view to third person view, through cities with known landmarks, signifying a road trip. The screen then quickly pans around to the front of the driver’s side of the windshield, the smokes clears to reveal the driver’s face. The song stops as a loud British voice speaks over the sound of a scratching record.

Orange
Me, my best friend, and a pile of pumpkins is a recipe for a portrait. My friend is wearing a rose-colored jacket, her “lady scarf,” and the soft velvet richly-colored reversible hat that called her name one rainy afternoon from a hat maker’s booth at an outdoor market. I’m wearing my fluffy fancy fleece and a golden silk scarf which my best friend has just bestowed on me as a get-through-your-divorce item of clothing to wear as a ray of light on my shoulders during the final days of my marriage. We are both wearing toe shoes, not sandals, as the weather changes from the long lit days of late summer to the shortened days of early autumn's glow.
