The Weevil People
Growing up poor gave me a unique perspective on entertainment. One summer, the radio station hosted Tuesday night $1.50 carloads at the drive-in for anyone using their bumper sticker. So, mom, (queen of pranks and scare tactics), loaded the station wagon with bags of popcorn and coolers of tea, together with plastic tumblers from home.

My Dad
How does he put us in the hole? Let's take a look at it! Dad was drinking one day, shaking his head, shaking his brain, and talking about alcohol in his mouth. That's when my sister and I got a bad idea because we wanted to go to the aquarium. Watching Dad drink, we approached him carefully, I quietly hid behind the curtain and my sister hid under the sofa where Dad was sitting. Then one of us grabbed his feet and one of us said from behind the curtain, "If you still want to drink take your kids to the aquarium. Dad saw the stance and got up from the couch, no problem. Come on, come on, let's have another drink ...... my sister and I are hiding there and snickering. I thought Dad had promised us this time that he would go. Unexpectedly, things took a turn for the worse.

About my brother
Sunday, September 17, 2020, Sunny My dad and mom came back from the hospital this afternoon with a few sheets of paper in their hands, the corners of their mouths turned upward all the time and the fine lines at the corners of their eyes filled with happiness. They told me that mom was more than a month pregnant and that I was going to have a brother or sister. They must not have been able to see how happy I was, because at the time I just smiled and didn't say anything.

The creek is my playground
Next to my grandmother's house, there is a small stream, long and narrow, shallow, year-round, that is the village's lively gathering place. The villagers do laundry and wash vegetables there, brush tools, back and forth every day to run three or five trips are considered less. We, children, like to hang out there, a water float, you splash me splash, there is always a new way to play. Every time I go to my grandmother's house, I can't help but join them, and this creek has naturally become my playground.
