The Barn
The barn sat in the middle of the field. It was creepy looking. I was the youngest of three girls and I just turned fourteen during winter vacation. The barn was about a mile from the farmhouse in California. The thick fog made it look even creepier than it did.

A Watercolor in the Rain
For his entire artistic career, he had rendered his works with the precision of an engineer. His art, even the abstract pieces, was always rendered more like a photograph than something from a poet. He had preferred pencil, graphite, and oils because they enabled him the tightest control over his creations.

little lessons
My mother told me this would happen one day. Speak softly, smile often, laugh at their jokes, pretend you don’t notice that he just took a picture of you, never run alone, grocery store parking lots are the number one place women are abducted. Little lessons she taught me in little moments. White knuckles gripping my shoulder, keys grasped firmly in her other hand. Eyes wide in panic when she lost sight of me at the beach. Call me when you get there, call me when you leave. Instructions I mocked and flouted. Now I picture what I fear most- having a daughter of mine own. Knowing that no matter how much I try to teach her, to warn her, there are some truths she will have to learn on her own.

People weren't first, they were last.

Cabernet Problems Pt.3
The glossy, black door opened, and Savannah stepped into his car. Her naked legs slithered across the seats. She could smell the new leather and assumed it was expensive. Pulling the seat belt over her shoulder, the buckle clicked. Holding the silence by opening a stick of mint gum, she granted the piece to burst in her mouth. The pleasantness broke out into a fresh mint flavor.

Life Without Cinema is azoic.
I am in India right now locked at my place and waiting for the things to get normal. Pandemic is creating havoc here, economy is down, salaries are being cut, people are losing jobs and if not that then definitely losing lives. And I, a fortunate one, just eat, sleep and write the whole day, I have started feeling like a zombie and the only thing which keeps me going and gives me the sense of being a human is; Cinema.
