The Shop Paradox
Life is weird. For the most part we go from day to day, doing the same things we do everyday. I guess that’s because all of us are forced to work to pay bills, buy food and save for rainy days, which we seem to be experiencing more and more of. These clockwork lifestyles are a kind of repetition that we get used to. Once, twice or three times a year, if we are lucky to be able to make these choices, we get to justify these routines with merited holidays and weekend breaks away in the “seen better days” caravan. Because of Groundhog Days, when something out of the ordinary happens, we are at times paralysed into inaction. That is exactly what happened to me on the 3 June. My birthday!

Relationship with yourself
Past experiences from relationships have taught me what I need to learn to have a relationship with myself before I can have one with anyone else. I’ve seen people come and go from my life because I was considered, “complicating” so they didn’t want to deal with me. I went through a lot of different relationships, but when I sit and think about why they didn’t work out I realize that I just didn’t love myself enough. I was always doing for the other person, always trying to please them, and wasn’t worried about myself like I should have been. I always got the short end of the stick in the relationship and was feeling insecure all the time. My self-esteem slowly faded over the years. The last relationship that I was in lasted about four months, it was then that I realized I can’t keep giving out love when I’m not even loving myself anymore. I realized that I need to work on myself.

I Stand, But I Stand for a Ceasefire
Take a stand, not for war but for a ceasefire. This isn’t what the media wants, no, peace is not something that makes news. But what is better for not only us but for our children. Do we save a life by pointing our fingers? No, we destroy lives that way. We are playing the blame game and that is the “truth” we’re preaching. It’s this person’s fault or that, but that’s the lies that we are not only being fed but believing. No one ever wins when the goal is to settle the score. Really, what is winning?
