A Three Year Nightmare
***This piece is dedicated to all the ladies who think they aren’t good enough. Who think they deserve to be unhappy. Who think they deserve to be treated like garbage. I WAS that girl. But I lived it, I learned from it, and I finally freed myself from a garbage dump of a relationship.

The Valentine’s Day Social Media Post – A 2-Minute Guide to What to Expect
So it's almost Valentine's Day again. The day that society pressures the boyfriends of the world to spend the amount of how much they really love you, while simultaneously pressuring the girlfriends of the world to post the cheesiest, category-red-'est photos on their social media pages to the judgment of their peers and social media followers.

To the Bushes and Back: A Worst First Date Story
It was me, my college professor and possibly the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. Definitely the most beautiful women I'd ever been on a boat with. I was wearing a purple button-down shirt, tucked into my best pair of "dad jeans," with sunglasses and a white baseball cap that flaunted the financial services company I was working for at the time.

Why Does It Feel Like Winter?
You know how it feels on those harsh days during the peak of the winter season? The very instant you step outside all the warmth seems to slowly drain from your body. Every step you take it feels like something might break, but if you stop your body will become frozen in that moment forever. Tears caused by the cold sting your eyes, and some say it’s the work of a mischievous Jack Frost who’s “nipping at your nose.”

Sweet Dreaming
Sweet Dreaming Have you ever had a dream that felt just as real as reality? Like you magically slipped into an alternate universe that functions and runs on its own time, checks and balances and you lose track of everything? Well that’s what happened to me, my sister believes there’s more than one dimension and the link between them is thinner and easier to cross while dreaming. I wasn’t sure how true her theory was until this happened.

The Next One Will Be Better
How bad can he really be? I carefully applied my lipstick in the dim lighting of my dorm room, my outfit and hair style pre-approved by roommates and friends to be first date worthy. I stared into my reflection in the mirror and took a deep breath. Maybe this guy will be the one? Hopefully, he’s not a serial killer at the very least…

My Worst Date
#MyWorstDate I had an outside sales position. One of the reps came in town from Canon. We made our sales calls introducing the new products. Then we stopped at the River Walk for lunch at Dick's Last Resort. Sitting across the restaurant was a really attractive guy. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and nicely dressed. We kept exchanging glances. Well it was time to leave. He hadn't approached me. I got up to proceed to walk out and he stopped me. Basic hi introductions. He was from Kansas traveling through Texas. He asked for my phone number. Asked if I'd like to grab a friend for his friend and have dinner. Gave him my phone number and told him to give me a call.

I'll Never Forget
How do you know you are in love? How do you feel? Is it like they say in movies? When you get butterflies in your stomach and your hands get clammy? Well, for me it was that and way more! You don't control who you fall in love with or when it happens. All you can control is how you deal with it. They say the love of your life meets you in your mess not your best. We always said from nothing to something, and I'll never forget what you told me in August of 2015, "Why did you have to sing that stupid song? Why did you have to look so cute? And make me fall in love with you?" From the first night we hung out you had me addicted, totally hooked. Your smile, your charisma, your charm, everything about you I wanted so badly. Then when I had it, I didn't want to let go; and I wouldn't for no reason!

2016
2016 was a year of emotions. It was not the best. There was loss beyond comprehension and sadness that still lingers. November is the month people take the time to say what they are grateful for; this is great. It gives inspiration and happiness to many but in 2016, that didn't seem to be the case. So many times I saw these memes talking about how horrible the year was, and no matter how accurate this may be, I did not share them because even though it was not the best year for me, I have a few things that I don't want to forget about from that year. I saw happiness in friendly gatherings to celebrate life and death, and I witnessed friends begin mother and fatherhood.

Why You Should Never Give Up on Your Closest Friends
Well I'm not too sure on how to start as this is my first story on Vocal, but anyways, I will start off by saying that I have known one of these two friends for nearly eight years and we have been through thick and thin together and we consider each other family. But anyways let's rewind to the start of November last year...
