The Worst Date
When I was little, I was never naive enough to believe the Disney, rose-colored idea of love; girl meets boy, boy slays dragon for girl, and they sing and dance into the sunset. I grew even further from this idea when I was in high school and realized how much I like girls too. Maybe I would be the one that ended up slaying the dragon. However, I always appreciated the fact the relationships were always healthy, compatible, and loyal. Those were the expectations I always had going into relationships in my adolescence. Eventually, these expectations were worn down. False hopes, broken hearts, cheating, lying, abuse and more followed the love life of a girl too young to know how to deal with it healthily. Two months after my 17th birthday, my heart was broken almost irreparably by a boy who promised me the world and stars in his hand for a year and a half, but instead blew dirt in my face. This was due to the fact he had fallen in love with another girl, the girl he also threw aside once the excitement had faded.

Happy Birthday You Beautiful Soul
Dear Best Friend, I am writing you this letter because unfortunately we won't be able celebrate together this year (not like we have in 6 years). Feb. 9, 2018 we would be celebrating 23 years of life but instead, everyone will be remembering 16 years of life, 6 years of addiction and 10 months of you being gone from us forever. This year, a simple Facebook post won’t cover it. A wishing of good luck and being safe won’t cut it. You and I have been through the ringer together and I wouldn’t have wanted to grow up with anyone else. I get so happy when I get to tell people stories of how lame we were and how many dumb ideas we had back then. I get happy because even though people don’t get to see you anymore or hear your voice, they hear the memories and stories about you, about us, and about everything!

Love Is What You Say
I was just reading something today that stated that love is what you say, not what you do. I had a thought, on top of not believing that phrase at all. People say, “I love you” like it’s a chore. A ring or a last name is the only reason you say it. But what do you DO to show it? Some people have a hard time figuring out how to show it. But it’s not complicated at all.

Finding Yours
I was recently in a relationship that was rather short lived. Why? Good question. The relationship started when I was talking to a guy on this dating site. I have met many decent people on it, but thus far had no luck getting dates. This was my first. As a woman I must admit I was a bit terrified. Add onto the relentless nerves of meeting someone for the first time and the dangers of meeting an online person in real life, there is also the fact that I have no car. That meant that if I could not get a ride there he would be coming to pick me up. That would mean he would know where I live.

Here's What You Should Do on Valentine's Day If You Are Single
Yes yes, we know, Valentine's Day sucks when you're single. You succumb to the scrutiny of your mother every year around this time about grandchildren and when she is going to get any. The glowing reality of red hearts and pink roses are everywhere, reminding you that you're still, after a number of failed attempts at love, very, very single. Or perhaps it was a choice—then by all means! But it doesn't mean that Valentine's Day will be any less frustrating.
