King Charles III
The United Kingdom's New Monarch

Iï»żntroduction
King Charles III. I wasnât so sure why this phrase struck a chord in my head, then I remembered one of my favourite albums is âLovebloodâ by King Charles (that talented musician Charles Costa who modelled his look on Charles II)
Goodbye Elizabeth II
Charles Windsor probably never wanted this moment to come. It would have been far better if Elizabeth II had resigned and Charles could have been King with his mother still here and being able to be proud of him.
Over the last ten years Elizabeth has been abused and lied to by the UK government especially Boris Johnson and was probably not looking forward to handing power to Liz Truss. They shared a forename but Truss has zero integrity unlike Elizabeth.
Elizabeth lost her husband and survived the COVID pandemic despite the complete incompetence of her government, she was someone the country could still look up to, but now she is gone.
King Charles III
Charles is outspoken on many things and almost always at odds with the current government. One of my favourite stories is that he supplied potatoes to Tesco under the âDuchyâ banner. Tesco said they wouldn't pay as they âdid not meet their standardsâ. Charles said âThatâs fine, send them back, we will use them to feed the pigsâ. Tesco did not send the potatoes back, they had probably already been sold. I donât know if Charles got his money but he didnât get the potatoes.
Charles III (full name Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 Nov 1948) is now King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. He has the ability to keep the post in the same way that his mother did, hopefully not taking as much flak and abuse from the government as his mother did.
He founded the youth charity The Prince's Trust in 1976, and sponsors The Prince's Charities. He is a patron, president, or a member of over 400 other charities and organisations.
He has advocated for the conservation of historic buildings and the importance of architecture in society.
A self-described environmentalist, Charles has supported organic farming and action to prevent climate change as the manager of the Duchy of Cornwall estates, which has earned him awards and recognition from environmental groups.
He is particularly hard working and I can see a lot of fights with this government who support fossil fuels and deny climate change. Charles supports organic farming and renewable energy.
He lost his wife Diana in suspicious circumstances although their marriage was over by then (they separated in 1992) , but it was still a tragic event. He married Camilla in 2005 and has been with her since then.
At 73 years he is the oldest monarch to ascend the throne. The previous oldest monarch was Willam IV who was 64 when he became king in 1830. 73, this an age when most people are retired, but Charles has always been the hardest working member of the British Royal Family so he will be able to cope.
The Future King
I would really respect Charles if he dissolved the Monarchy, but failing that I think he will become a thorn in the side of right wing politicians and use whatever powers he can muster to stand against the self serving powers that cause harm to this country.
Itâs not Game of thrones but I can see a lot of almost chess playing going forward and Charles will be more than capable of holding his own once he is crowned, although in reality he is already King Charles III.

Hi. I read this again today because it was such an interesting read in the first place! Seriously, I hope King Charles III does indeed become a 'thorn in the side' to right wing politicians because they need this.
We will all miss our Queen! Thank you Mike for this lovely tribute to our Mother.
Thank you for writing this. â€ïž
An excellent and fitting piece of writing, very befitting of our realm's saddening loss of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8th September 2022 at 18:30hrs. Well done.
As an American, having the view point of a UK countryman is very insightful. Thanks for this.
