"Hear me out, what if we ran away together?"
"Where do you want to go?"
"Anywhere but here. We could move to a new city or to Canada, or we could disappear from society to live in the middle of the woods. Maybe a combination of two of those things would be good. What do you say?"
"Uh, we're adults. I don't think it counts as running away anymore."
"We have responsibilities we would be abandoning, so I think it would count. We wouldn't tell people first. It would be like a surprise that we're gone."
"I'll give you that because I do think some people may find cause for concern if we just dipped to move to a new city or essentially the wilderness without saying anything. I don't think the Canada idea would work out, though. We would need visas for that."
"You're really putting a damper on the whole 'hear me out' thing, huh?"
"Two of the three things you said are still hypothetically being discussed. I am being realistic."
"That's not the point of a 'hear me out,' and you know it. You're being a bummer."
"It just seems like you might be overreacting a bit with this idea. Are you doing alright?"
"I would be doing better if I could not be here and studying for this exam, that's for sure."
"But is this only about the exam?"
"Yeah, I'm just sick of this. Whose bright idea was it for us to register for a geology course?"
"If I remember correctly, you made a comment about how you used to really like rocks as a kid when we were looking at options for science gen ed credits. This was your idea."
"Well, now I hate rocks and this class, and I want to throw this textbook at the wall. "
"Oh, come on. The whole ancient fish fossil thing in the Cleveland Shale was cool. It's kind of nice that the class feels localized to an extent."
"That lecture was cool, but the readings are so boring."
"Do you want to take a break? We've been studying all morning."
"I want to take a break forever. What do you want to do now?"
"Hear me out..."
"Are you going to agree to the running away thing?"
"No, but do you want to take a local trip?"
"A local trip to where?"
"Let's go see where Professor Adams said they found Dunk."
"You want to go out to Rocky River Reservation right now?"
"It kind of feels like disappearing into the woods for a bit, and it would be relevant. I heard someone talking about the nature center there having an exhibit on Dunk."
"You just want to go read about a weird old fish fossil, don't you?"
"I want you to find your love of rocks again through a mini adventure, or at least to stop complaining about this class because we have three weeks left before finals. Dunk is an added bonus for me."
"Alright, let's go actually look at rocks and see that display. This is not as good an idea as running away together, though."
"No, I think it's better. The running away together thing didn't include any ancient extinct fish."
