Six months after this, the researchers found that accepting the bigger challenges strengthened the couple's relationship between the partners in many ways and developed harmoniously, while the couples who chose the "easy way" encountered difficulties, not declaring themselves as happy.

"We realized that support in times of need when it comes to making a decision - such as a new job opportunity or making friends - matters a lot to the well-being of the couple's partners," said Brooke Feeney, study coordinator. and Professor of Psychology at CMU's Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
