While dating apps and websites are a great way to meet new people, the internet can only take you so far. If you really want to meet men in your area and go on dates with them, you need to put on your big-girl pants, get out there, and start talking to people. If meeting men in real life sounds like an intimidating prospect, that’s because it is. Even if you have a friend who’s willing to set you up on a date with their cousin or friend from uni or colleague at work or something like that; it feels weird saying things like “We should meet up so we can introduce you as my new non-existent boyfriend!” And when we say weird…we mean incredibly weird. It’s honestly not as awkward as it sounds. There are many ways of meeting single men – some easier than others. Here are 10 things about dating men that may help:

Guys Like Confidence

If you want to be successful in meeting single men, confidence is the key. A study conducted by The University of California found that “women who act more confident, competent, and powerful in job interviews can boost their chances by 10%”. You don’t need to be cocky or arrogant. You just need to exude a sense of self-assuredness that naturally attracts people to you. This doesn’t mean you should be walking around with your head high and chest puffed out like some sort of peacock either. It means acting as though you are 100% in control of your life and know what you want.

Go To Events Where You Can Meet Men

Going to events where you can meet men will be an excellent choice. Events like singles nights, speed dating and online dating are all good ways to get out there and meet new people. While you may be nervous about going to such an event on your own; don’t worry! You’ll be surprised by how quickly it feels like second nature. Going to these events gives you the opportunity to have a fun time while meeting someone new. You’ll never know who you might meet at one of these events or what could happen. You might end up talking with someone for hours before exchanging contact information or agreeing to go on a date sometime later in the week. Or, you might make a connection with someone after just one conversation and leave the event feeling fulfilled regardless of whether or not you find that special someone. Either way, the night will be well spent!

Make Eye Contact And Smile

There is nothing more attractive and inviting than a confident woman. If you want to meet men, stand up straight and don’t look away from people when you talk to them. Smile!

Don’t Assume All Men Are Out To Get You

If you’re a woman, don’t assume that every man you meet is out to get something from you. Not all men are the same, and not all men think the same way. Yes, there are plenty of men who will try to take advantage of a woman in some way or another, but there are also plenty of good guys out there.

Don’t Dwell On A Guy Who Isn’t Interested

If a guy isn’t interested in you, that’s his loss. If a guy is interested in you, it means he values you enough to make an effort. Remember that not everyone is going to want to date you and that’s okay. It doesn’t make you less desirable as a person or less worthy of love.

Try Online Dating

Online dating for meeting men is a great way to start. There are many different platforms, including Tinder, OkCupid, and Plenty of Fish. If you want to ensure that the people you meet online are close by, make sure to search for profiles in your area or in nearby towns or cities. You can also set up a profile on one of these sites and use it as a way to weed out any creeps who only want you because they’re looking at your pictures.

Be Yourself — Really!

In order for you to feel comfortable on your date, it's important that you're being true to yourself. You should dress and act how you want to. And if you don't want to drink alcohol or eat meat, it's okay to let your date know ahead of time.
