The Shattered Soul
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. She stood facing away from me, head cocked a little as if listening. The bathroom walls were charred and black, like her hair. She swiveled suddenly to look at me. I quickly averted my eyes. Then the microwave was beeping and my husband’s voice echoed down the hall.

The Widow's Call. Top Story - January 2024.
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. Percy obscured the foreground, followed by Donaghue, and finally myself in the rear. We rocked in the belly of a merchant vessel bound for the Royal coast; the mirror was the first piece of cargo stumbled upon in our pursuit of transport treasure.

Infinity Mirror
1 "The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own. I desperately tried to count towards the image that's not exactly me, but..." Arlo considers his following words carefully. "The closer I get, the darker it gets. And there's this build-up of contempt...this...this deluge of self-hate. I won't go back into that room."

Kupid
!!!!!The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own!!!!! It bled images of lovely sultry and mysterious petaled faces staring back at me. In great puzzlement, I wondered how that was at all possible, no such images were around me. Now it has changed to a dark beauty, a potpourri of delectably sweet nectar seeping from her eyes and skin. I was mesmerized, fascinated and horrified.

Mirror mirror
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. My raven hair was turned golden in this mirror. My sharp nose now reflected a pixie and my dark dry lips were softened with a dewy rose’ pigment. Whoever that was in the mirror, she was a goddess compared to me. This made my skin hot and my blood boil. As my rage built up I punched the reflection with both my fists. Although the image turned slightly frightened, the glass remained intact. As I was about to curse the forsaken mirror, a voice came from downstairs. “Honey it’s time for school” a docile voice echoed. Still fuming I caught my breath and grabbed my bag.

Only One Way
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. It was a two-way mirror, but the person on the other side of it could have been my twin. She looked identical to me in almost every way. Her blonde mousy hair was a tussled mess, just like mine. Her blue eyes, the same grey-blue that I inherited from my mother. Her petite frame matched mine. She was me, right down to the scar on her forehead.

The broken mirror
The old, Victorian house had been abandoned for years, left to rot in the quiet town that surrounded it. The townsfolk whispered that the house was cursed, that it was haunted by the ghosts of those who had lived within its walls. And yet, there were those who dared to venture inside, drawn by the thrill of the unknown and the promise of adventure.

Stalemate
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own. It showed a woman. And this woman was staring at me. Not a glance. Not an appraising look. Not even in a “checking me out” kind of way, no. She was full on staring, like her eyes could see right through me to my very soul.

"The Exchange"
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own, causing my heart to jump and flutter widely in my chest, so fast that it caused small beads of sweat to appear on my brow. Turning my back to the mirror I quickly walked away. Unable to make sense of the image I had seen left me feeling it all may have been my imagination.
