"Saloum" Review
Welcome to a land where rivers flow with revenge and everyone has a secret. In this west african crime thriller, director Jean Luc Herbulot explores the cultural issue of child soldiers in Africa, using the Sine-Saloum region of Senegal as the main backdrop. There are a number of political cultural references that went right over my head as I have no knowledge of the region. By the end of the film however, I was definitely following along and was able to share the emotional duress of the characters. When the twist is presented, the entire film shifts in tone and a little in genre(which I won’t describe, to avoid spoilers). This caught me a little off-guard–but again, in the end I was not only understanding, but in awe of the way the story was playing out. I can say with absolute confidence that I never knew what was going to happen next.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'The Current Occupant' (2020)
So, this wasn't really horror, and it's not usually my bag to do movies like this, but I've strayed from my lane before and I think it's appropriate to do that now. So, what do I call this? Cerebral Suspense, Cerebral Thriller? Something in that vein. It's a kin to Cerebral Horror, and it's the best kind that walks the line between madness and reality. On its face, we're given a dilemma, a sort of moment where we're asked to suspend disbelief or reject it entirely. The movie frequently asks the question, "Is it more likely that the President of the United States is being held captive in a mental facility, or that a crazy person in a mental facility thinks they're the President of the United States."

Cursed. Top Story - September 2022.
A movie played in the background, and we lay there whispering a million sweet nothings with no words passing between us. That was when I felt her soft touch as she ran the tip of her nose across my cheek. I turned to look at her and the world around us became irrelevant. All that mattered was right there in front of me. She had that “kiss me” look in her eyes, and for a brief moment, I forgot how to respond.

The evil spirit from the painting
It was in the fall of 2007; I had just moved from the village to the city; I inherited a very nice 3-room apartment. I really liked everything about it, except for one place, in my bedroom opposite the bed, the wall was completely bare. This annoyed me terribly. I decided to drop by the nearest furniture store after work and buy a mirror.

Taxidermy Soul
The traffic wasn’t moving a bit, so we decided to park on the street and hoof it the remaining two blocks. We walked the cracked, dampening sidewalk with a purpose. This was a party street – directly bordering the University of Cincinnati campus. The street-side was littered with beer boxes, beer cans, shattered glass, rotting food. The smell of freshly-lit bud wafted throughout the area as if naturally present in the local flora. I liked the scent, but I can’t handle smoking the stuff – makes me far too paranoid. It was early Saturday afternoon – maybe one o’clock.

Burble From Beyond
We recently moved into our new house. It's perfect, just the right size for our family, but it has a strange problem with the drains. I noticed it while I was unpacking the bathroom things. I turned to find that my husband had forgotten to flush and pushed the lever to flush it down. When I did, I discovered that the sink burbles when you flush the toilet. Nothing too jarring, but it scared me a little when I first heard it. The sink burbles and bubbles, making a noise deep in the drain as it clears the water.

A Gameshow? Pt.10
I wake up drowsy. The sheet had fallen. I was hungry. Luckily a tray had been delivered. I also noticed my clothes from the previous day, had been washed. I quickly changed and picked up the tray. Scrambled eggs( no seasonings), water, patty sausage( also no seasoning), and plain oatmeal.
