The Conveyor Belt
I slowly open my eyes and have to stop from gasping. The air is thick and oily and fills my lungs with a wet, soggy film. Where am I? I attempt to slowly look around but can barely move my head. Odd. Instead, I focus on what is in front of me. It takes a few moments to realize that I can’t see anything, just a cold, black abyss staring back at me, silently. Several more moments pass before I realize I still can’t see anything. A feeling of despair begins to creep at the back of my throat. Why can’t I move and why can’t I see?

A Dragons Cry
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They used to be common, but now that their population had dwindled down they’re slowly beginning to move up into the more populated areas in the valley. As such there weren’t as many places to live for the species, and it is only now that the dragons have been driven out from the valley. The reasoning of why the dragons were dwindling was due to the humans who decided to come and steal Dragon eggs from the nests that lived in the Valley of Dragons. They were worth alot of coin in the underground markets. Some of the humans had difficulties trying to complete the theft. Dragon Females tend to stay near the eggs when first laid which made it difficult to complete the task of stealing one or more of the eggs. That didn't stop the humans trying though. The humans this time attempted to steal eggs from a new mother dragon named Eris. She had just turned seven cycles old when she laid her first brood. She had attempted to stop the humans from taking her eggs but got badly hurt in the process. Sadly, the humans were victorious of their cruel deed. She watched the the humans get away with one of her eggs with her head held low in pain while sheltering her eggs that were left, the tears that threatened to fall came with a cry of a dragon that could be heard throughout the valley.

The Dark Glen
Doran returned to the glen just as the Maiden broke through the clouds. The moon’s light bathed the clearing in indigo bringing night glories into full bloom. Even in his desperation, a small part of his mind marveled at the beauty of the clearing which was aglow in fluorescent shades of violet. He hoped he’d been quick enough in finding the hartstongue leaves. If Murai was still alive, they would stop the bleeding.

Carnage: The Beginning
Predator Turned Prey There is blood everywhere, along with all the family's body parts all over this lovely floor. The murderer was proud of this. It turned him on. The murderer started touching himself to the scene before him. He licked his fingers as he moved them closer and closer to the body parts, until finally reaching the ones that were still connected. His eyes glowed brighter as he licked it. He was going to have fun tonight. The murderer licked himself for a few more minutes before standing up to leave. He had just begun walking when he felt something hit him in the chest, sending him backwards. He fell back onto his stomach, but quickly stood up again. Before he could even register what had happened, he felt another impact on his arm, followed by another and then another. He couldn't move, he struggled, but it was no use. The murderer began running as fast as he could through the house. He didn’t know where he was going, just that he needed to get away from there as fast as possible. As he ran past the kitchen, he saw something in the corner. They looked like they were trying to reach the exit to the basement, but their body was too damaged. He ran faster, hoping to escape, when a monster walked into view behind him. Without thinking, he kicked the monster in the face, causing it to fall to the ground. The creature growled at him, ready to attack. He did the only thing he could think of. He grabbed one of the knives on the counter and lunged towards the creature , slicing off its hand at the wrist. The monster screamed, clutching its stump to its chest. Blood oozed out from between creature fingers, staining the white tiles beneath it. He turned around, running for his life. He didn’t want to look back and see what else this creature would do to him. He knew that, if he did, he wouldn’t be able to run any faster, so he kept moving. As he reached the front door, he heard footsteps chasing after him. He stopped short at the entrance to the front yard. There was nobody outside, which meant he might be safe. Just for now. He glanced back behind him to make sure the creature hadn’t caught up to him yet, before opening the door and sprinting outside, leaving the house behind. He didn’t stop running until he reached the bus stop. Once there, he collapsed against the wall and let himself fall to the concrete. Then out of thin air the creature appeared and sliced his abdomen, spilling his insides everywhere. The murder, the human predator has become another predators dinner. How fitting.

Daddy's Fairy
“Maeve!” Daddy bellows with a drunken, guttural roar. His incoherent babbling bounces off the dusty walls fringed with mold. I scuttle behind my favorite chair, the red and yellow striped one with the wobbly leg. I hear him stomp closer, I hear a glass bottle slip from his grip onto the stained carpet, but I’ve learned to stay quiet. Hugging my knees, I sway back and forth to help me pretend that I’m quaking on purpose. I think Daddy’s stopped in the middle of the living room. His heavy breathing slows, and his mindless muttering becomes quieter and quieter, and soon a loud thump indicates that it’s safe to emerge.

Her Dark Secret
I woke up this morning and went to open my coffee shop. Today was just like any other day, except I have been shorthanded lately. I decided to put a help wanted sign in the window. The business has been booming recently, and I have been so swamped. I needed a break, but I knew I couldn't do that. Hopefully, they will stick around for a long time when I hire someone. Before the morning rush poured in, I began cleaning the dining area and brewing coffee, tea, cappuccino, and everything else I needed. I baked some cookies, cakes, and pies for my highly demanding customers. Just imagine if I could get someone in here before the end of the week. That would be wonderful. I finally got my dream business, and now I am tired all the time. Since James and Barbara quit on me, I haven't had much time to do anything but work. As soon as I unlocked the door and put the open sign in the window, many people filled the shop. Luckily for me, I already knew what most of them wanted. Only a few people asked about the position, and I gave them information. I was able to set up quite a few interviews. That was good news for me. Things were looking up already, yay!
