fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
The Scarf
I leaned against a black lamppost next to the busy street and huddled underneath my raincoat. Rain spattered in noisy fat droplets on the sidewalk, on the cars passing by, on my head. I checked my cracked wristwatch and was relieved that I was an hour early for the bus. I was sixteen, and it was high time I left this crooked town, with my crooked family, behind.

The Willow
The Willow It was a quiet night. The sort of night where you would look out your window and contemplate the wonders of life. Ron was the sort of person who would do things like that. Sitting by the window and looking at the stars. The warm summer breeze ruffling his pajamas.

Document 921
If you're reading this, I'm most likely missing. Either that, or - I'm so so sorry to say - Someone has found me dead. I need you to listen up. I need you to have an open mind. Only maybe three or four of you reading and/or listening to this right now will understand… THIS WAS NO ACCIDENT. If I frantically sent the title of this document (921) to someone or a couple people I know, it SURE AS HELL is way too late. If I am missing DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT COME LOOKING FOR ME. In choosing to do so, you are putting your life and the lives of those you love in EXTREME DANGER. Please, whatever you do, don’t look for me, SO HELP ME GOD, DON’T.

Ebnah's story
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. I can't say I blame them for their migration. The valley shields us mostly from the rain. The tall hills soak up the nuclear fallout like sponges and we live in their shadows. 176 days we've hidden here. Not just from the rain, but the dragon types as well. We call them dragons because they take and destroy, and sit atop their mountain of bodies. They were once people like you and I, but for one reason or another they've chosen to become monsters. I'm not one for poetry but dragons is the best way to put it. 176 days we've lived in fear, scared of our shadows and the candles flicker.

The World is Fucked Up
The world is a fucked up place. You remember that incident when the guy ate another guy’s face off and they blamed it on bath salts? If you don’t, that was probably because they mentioned it once before the whole thing just magically disappeared. Turns out it was really the beginning of the zombie uprising. One experiment got out, and, in time, whatever they were concocting in their secret labs couldn’t be contained. I imagine all the rich people probably rushed to their bunkers in the desert or hopped in a spaceship bound for Mars when things got really out of hand and left us poor people to play Walking Dead.

1,000,000
Winning the lottery is supposed to make life easy, but for John Hinklock, it had brought nothing but misery and difficulty. He had been down on his luck for a long time, and had purchased a ticket as a frantic, last-ditch effort to eliminate his financial concerns. He figured that in the best case he would win, and in the worst he would only be out a few dollars, which was nothing when compared to the money he was already short.

Family things
I was going to my girlfriend house for the first time in 6 years and it was weird to me why she never wanted me to visit her family but i never questioned it, i was pulling up and she was waiting for me outside, i parked my car on the street and locked my doors even though we was in a good neighborhood i still don't trust motherfuckers. I was walking up the stairs and she hugged me and kissed me till her father and mother came to the door, i reached my hand out and they pulled back, the mother grabbed some hand sanitizer and poured some in my hand before shaking it, i didn't think nothing to it just that they were clean freaks, they welcomed me in but my girlfriend told me to take my shoes off even though they were new and not dirty i still did what she said out of respect.

Emergence, Part 1
Bang! Bang! Bang!! Startled, Kee jumped, looking up from the page she was colouring on at the kitchen table. Someone was at the door. Twisting, she looked behind her to where her sister had disappeared moments before into the bedroom they shared, but she didn't see her.

The Town That Time Forgot
I was in my late twenties and had been living in my own apartment for about a year. For our generation, it is difficult to find decent, affordable accommodation, with the increase in house prices, so naturally I was thrilled when I moved into my own place, searching for months to find the right house. I’d been sharing an apartment with a couple of friends for a few years but nothing beat having my own home.
