Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
The Unexpected Betrayal
The Mainland Prison yard was encircled by not one, not two, but three 12 foot barb wire topped security fences, making it an absolute impossibility for anyone held in the prison to ever escape. This is because Mainland prisoners are the hard core villains, the evilest of the evil criminals on the entire planet.

A Nightmare, Live on Vocal+
Sunday - 11:52 PM "The End." As I type what is easily the most sought-after phrase in all of writerdom, an immense sense of pride and accomplishment washes over me. After all, I have just completed a story! So many writers, aspiring authors, and other wordsmiths can only dream of besting such a herculean feat. A whole story! I cheer for myself, vain though that may be, as I click my way through the all-important button sequence and eagerly await my fame and fortune.

Mournful Dove
Fog rose over the hillside, blurring the tree line as it mixed and fused with the leafless winter wood. Other than the somber call of the mourning dove, no sound came from that empty place. It was a cold, dry January morning; colder and drier than most.

A Night at the Aquarium
Trigger Warnings-Mentions of sexual assault. “I can’t believe you got the keys for this place!” Karl remarked, his eyes wide as he scanned the walls. Earlier this year, some local artist spray-painted the inner walls of the building, adorning the brick with colorful creatures. Hammerhead sharks with fearsome teeth, pink starfish with puckered limbs, and every fish from the Finding Nemo franchise watched sightlessly as I pulled the door shut behind us.

Top of the Charts. Runner-Up in The Mystery Box Challenge.
Have you ever looked at the liner notes on a CD? Maybe you were on a road trip, bored of watching endless stretches of farmland roll by your window and you needed something to distract you. Maybe you're one of those rare people who gets curious about who and what goes into making a record and you decided to find out. If either of those apply to you, there's a chance you might have seen my name. You wouldn't remember it, of course. Just a handful of tiny black letters populating one of those overcrowded blocks of text, tucked away in the liner notes of an album. "Blake Mickens: bass guitar on tracks 2, 7, and 12." "Martin Aubuchon: drums and percussion on tracks 3 and 11." "Special thanks to Chloe Hall, Calvin Hawkins, Jorge Dominguez and Sylvia Adzoh." If you pick up the right record, I'm somewhere in there.
