The Little Black book
It was a extremely dark and it was raining that night, I felt a bit chilly as the wind whipped at my raincoat. I pulled my coat closer to stay warm and also to shield myself from the strange man that just walked by, I shuddered and turned and looked back at the creepy man with dark thin hair and dark coat, and then I quickly looked away to avoid his gaze. But just for that split second, I had saw from the corner of my eye that he dropped something. But I could not really make out what it was.

Little Black Book
I couldn’t believe it. She was gone. “Mysterious circumstances” they called it. They being the police. Gran had disappeared a week ago, no body recovered. She was just assumed dead and everyone moved on with their lives, even my aunt and cousins. It wasn’t fair! Why was I the only one who refused to accept it?

Including the Kitchen Sink
The hustle of the market was nothing more than a drone so early in the morning. Paul walked around, looking at all the shops. He needed to find a good gift for his roommate before he headed home. He only had a few days left on his trip. Nothing seemed the right fit. Food was too impractical. A book was too plain. Art wasn’t his roommate’s favorite. What he liked were danger and jokes. Paul picked up and then put back on the table a snow globe, and sighing as he continued walking. He was starting to think he would never find that elusive gift. Then he came to the end of the stalls. An aging woman with bags under her eyes smiled a crookedly wry smile. Her brown hair was tied up in a messy bun.

In The Darkness
In the darkness, I waved my hands, now tied together, in front of me and could barely see them. With only a small amount of moonlight shining through an oculus above, I could see a few feet in front of me. I was lost in the corner of the walls of stone, trying to figure out how I got here. If it were not for the little black book, I would not have a clue. In my mind were the names of people and places that developed my current predicament. I saw visions of prosperity and things that could be. Twenty-thousand dollars was a lot to me. It helped to shape my understanding of how I could change my life. I was a writer and a poet. Now I cannot see my way clearly.

The Dead of Night
Everything, and everyone we knew was gone, or so we thought. The sound of gun fire, and sirens in the distance, along with horrifying screams filled the streets. Damien placed his hands on both of my shoulders, looked me straight in the eyes, "just keep your eyes on me, do not let go... do not look around... don't do anything but run. Okay? I will keep you safe" he said reassuringly. Still in shock from everything that has already happened, all I could do was nod as I tried pulling myself together. My legs felt like rubber, my arms were tingling, and my head was spinning. “How did this happen? What is going on?!” I thought to myself.

One simple request
Carmen looked down at the table and pinched the bridge of her nose. Across from her, Sean sat with a look of sour disgust on his face. The math should work but neither of them is good at math is seemed. Carmen sighed and then looked at the calendar, trying to cram the time into a way that would work.

Ch4: Careful What I Wish For
Miles was mad about the TV when he got home. I had hoped he wouldn't notice until after I was gone (I am unscrupulous, apparently,) but no such luck. The air had been thick with his cursing, which didn't bother me as much as it probably should have. I let guilt slide off my face and leave it blankly innocent. I had tried to switch it on earlier, I say, all wide eyes and ignorance. It didn't work then either. Well, that's not exactly a lie.

Bella and the Bear
Bella sat at the dinner table watching her parents eat. No one was talking and the air felt heavy and suffocating. Her mother was cutting her food into tiny pieces but not really eating any of it, just pushing it around her plate. Her father slammed his cutlery down after each bite and chewed loudly. Bella could feel her stomach twisting around the food she was forcing herself to eat too fast, hardly chewing before swallowing it down and ignoring the painful lump forming in her throat. She wanted to leave the table as quickly as possible and that meant clearing her plate. No sooner than she had put the last bite in her mouth she asked to be excused. Her mother continued to stare blankly at her plate, seemingly without hearing her so she turned instead to her father. He grunted at her in approval and she slipped from her chair and gently placed her cup and plate by the sink. She tiptoed up the stairs and as she closed the bedroom door behind her she heard a plate crash into the sink. She jumped into her bed without undressing and pulled her pillow down around her ears. Not quickly enough to block out the first angry words booming up from below. She sang softly to herself and shut her eyes tight hoping that sleep would come quickly. When sleep didn't come and the noise came up the stairs bringing with it crashes and slammed doors that shook the floor under her bed, Bella pulled her quilt about her shoulders and climbed out her window and into the ancient tree whose branches tangled up against the house and creaked in the wind. Climbing deeper into the branches she found no escape from the noise so she clambered down and ran away from the house, following the small creek that ran through their property. The moon was full and high in a clear sky and it was only when Bella could no longer see her way by its light that she realised she had wandered into the thick patch of forest that bordered her father's land. He had told her many times that if she went into the woods alone a bear would eat her for a snack. Too frightened of the noise at home to return and too frightened of bears to continue she curled up in the roots of a huge tree and, cold and alone, cried herself to sleep.

Fear
"I can't believe I let you talk me into this." "Oh come on, it's just a carnival ride. What's the worst that can happen?" I watch her big smile practically take over her face. I raise one eyebrow at her, it took me years to perfect it but now it came naturally.

Once Upon A Nightmare
Rebecca rubbed her eyes as she glanced at the clock on Elijah's dresser. She jolted awake as she remembered the nightmare that continued to linger like a bad taste in her mouth. It's 3 o'clock in the morning and Elijah was snoring so loud that anyone passing by would think their was a bear hibernating in the house. She tried shaking him awake and when that didn't work she hit him with a pillow. He opened his eyes slowly and stretched lazily over the side of the bed. "Eli" "Wake up," she pleads. Immediately, he sensed that something was wrong. Her body was slightly shaking and even though she had said that it was from a inner cold that she couldn't get rid of. The look on her face showed otherwise it looked as if she had seen a ghost. He pulled her back into the massive King size bed and lavished upon her affection kisses. She couldn't help but laugh as he tickled her. "Now that the Boogie Man is back where he belongs let's get some sleep."
