An Echo of Life
The spring sun warmed the grass where Lillibet stood. She rustled her feet against it in anxious procrastination for what was to come. Today was the day she took the test, and if she passed, be sworn in, to the Order Soul Keepers as a Nun at the Sanctuary of Lost Souls. She was hesitant but ready. She took a deep breath and fastened her scarf around her head. From her head to her toes, Lillibet, clad in pastel blue and white, looked just as any Nun would. She stood tall and focused, sighing heavily with each breath as she gained the confidence to walk to the site of her test. As she traveled, people around her waved and wished her luck. Lillibet simply smiled and nodded. She paced herself moving in a slow but constant meditation; her palms facing upwards resting at her breast, with her fingers gently intertwined. Her night and day of silent meditation and reflection were almost up. Lillibet approached the Church with reverence. She gently nodded to the soulless as she passed them by. They wandered the graveyard, bumping into the forcefield surrounding it ever so often, as a reminder to those who come to transfer their souls to another body; the result of what happens when the soul leaves a body not ready to die. Lillibet stopped to admire the church for a moment. It was a modest stone building consisting of red, blue, and grey stones. The ancient structure once for the hopes of life after death, was now a sign of life eternal to the immortal. The church of old celebrated death as a way to eternal life. Now they celebrate life immortal. She sighed and walked up the steps to the door and opened it. A burly man in a dark blue hooded robe turned to face her. He smiled warmly at her.

The Red Mark
In a country in a distant place, two families were warring. The feud had gone on for so long no one could quite remember the original cause. The present hostilities were based on more recent grudges and murders. One family was named Wren, the other Fox. Both desired to control the countryside and eradicate their enemy.

Buried
Leaves crunching beneath his shoes, knuckles white on his rifle’s grip, Wyatt said to the man on his left, “You’ve got to remember not to hesitate. He’ll probably try to beg, and that’s when he’s the most dangerous.” The other hand held firm onto the bloodhound’s leash. Wyatt heard the shaking in his younger brother, Josh’s voice as he said, “I know. I know. We’re going to kill it, and this whole thing will be over with.” Once again, he slid back the rusted bolt of his rifle to make sure a bullet was chambered, and closed it again. “Where should I aim, if we get the jump on it?” He had to keep up next to his brother, as he held the lantern, but struggled to stay in stride with his brother’s long legs.

miracle gamblers
The sound of a faint buzzing noise woke Chesca up from a deep sleep. It wasn’t exactly the sound she wanted to hear after working a double at the casino the night prior, the slots and jackpot sirens still ringing in her ears. Looking up at her clock, it took her more then a minute to clear her blurry vision. “Only three hours of sleep” she thought, groggily to herself as she threw the blanket over her head. As the buzzing continued followed by knocks, she realized someone had been knocking on her flat door.

My werewolf life
They say this all began in the mid 1500's. Some crazy guy in a "magical girdle" was roaming the country side, shape-shifting and killing people. I actually had to look this up because at first, I didn't believe it. Sure enough there it was in black and white print on my computer screen, some random guy in Germany was wearing a girdle and roaming the country side. It ended the usual way things like this end, he was tortured and killed, then his head hung on display. It was said the girdle was a gift from the devil as a sign of their pact. If the devil was to hand me a girdle and say this will give you shape-shifting powers I would have to take a hard pass on that one.

Little Black Book
“I’m not sure when it started. I just know that since that thing has shown up, my life has been a mess.” He said as he peered over his shoulder at his bag, “You would think because I always know what to expect from my day that I would be more at ease, but I’m not. It never tells me if things are going to turn out okay, just what is going to happen. It is not like reading the last chapter in the book. It is like being stuck on the middle chapters, all the time! My life is a stressful middle chapter.” He took a breath as he ran his hand through his hair, “It’s not all bad though, sometimes it tells me good things. Six months ago it told me that I would ask a beautiful woman out at the park. Sheila was the only woman at the park that day and man is she beautiful. Because of the book I had the courage to ask her out and she said yes! Can you believe that? But then a few weeks ago it told me that Sheila was going to break up with me right when things were getting good. No explanation either. She did break up with me that day too and told me it’s because I act all jumpy. She said that she hated the way I couldn’t stop checking my little black book.”
