Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
The Big C Legacy
Sick. his dad was sick. His dad was sick and there was nothing Kirk could do. His father in the hospital, the big C. All that smoking had finally caught up with him. Lung cancer, stage 4. All anyone could do is bring flowers and watch him die. “Cancer is a spectator sport” he thought to himself, a sick guilty smile on his face. His eyes flitted side to side, checking to see if anyone had caught that atrocious whim of humor. Safe.

DreamWalker
"Help Me" whispered a child's voice in my ear. The breath passed through my spine, like a gasp of cold air. I know I am alone in my bed, yet I feel the shifting of a body next to mine. I am full of fear. The covers begin to move off my body like I am being told to get up. "HELP ME" shout the child, but this time it was pain and suffering I heard. The room echoed like a drop in a dark cave. I felt intense pain all over, as I fell to the floor. This one was different, this one I could tell went through the worst. 'Let me in" the child whispered. I was terrified to let this child take hold of my soul. I knew this journey would be gruesome, and even at this point I still have yet to look at her.

Snow Day
Fred loves snow days, possibly even more than the middle school students to whom he teaches science. At 6 am today, Fred had muttered a request. When his smart speaker confirmed that the schools were closed due to inclement weather, he fell back asleep without ever lifting an eyelid.

The List
It was raining in Portland. I could have started this story with “the day ended in Y” or “they’re making another superhero movie”. Anything that was kind of crappy but constant. Of course, it was raining in Portland. But it’s important, really. That’s how the book found me.

Deadfall
Headlights shone across the sand towards the crashing surf. A dark mound on the beach sent long shadows down to the waters edge. North Bay Police Chief Sean Korde’s eyes focused on the thing on the wet sand. Pale flesh, dark, tangled hair. His breathing grew ragged. His gut twisted. It felt like he was stumbling into his worst reoccurring nightmare. One more step and he would see her face, the fogged staring eyes, the lips gone pale blue. He wanted to turn away screaming. He wanted to lift her into his arms. His heart. His Maria. He took the last step, and felt his breath restart in a loud surge.

Eating my experiences (22)
TOME 23 I spent several hours feeling sorry for myself as I unraveled beside Alex before I looked for myself at the bottom of a wine bottle, propped up against the wall, filling myself to the brim with the nauseating fluid. Lilly found me puffy eyes and all with a compassionate hug, melting the small level of defense built against my emotions. I melded with her small body, reveling the song she softly sang to me before she pulled away with sadness in her eyes to study my face.

Loretta
Part One: Frances Loretta Falling Tick. Tick. Tick. The rats scraped the glass enclosure methodically. Where did they think they could go? I often ask myself the same question. Always sitting here in my room, you would think I was in some sort of a delinquent's prison. I certainly am not. In fact, I choose this existence of sitting here listening to the white, static sound of my rodent friends planning their escape. Tick. Tick. Tick.
