Chapter 1
I was one of the last brothers left out of the seven and I was close to my last breath in one of
my brother’s arms.
“May you be at peace Donn.” the brother who was holding me said and I felt my soul leave my
body.
After that, I felt myself be transported to the front door of a palace that was silver, black and
gold. A woman in a black dress with long wavy purple and black hair was waiting for me in
front of the door.
“I’ve been waiting for you for centuries.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You’re the one I’ve been waiting for that would take my place.”
“Your place as what?”
“Come inside and I’ll show you.”
She snapped her fingers and we were in a room with a silver and black throne towards the
back of the room in a huge mansion. The woman went to go sit on the throne and I walked towards her. She said
something I couldn’t understand and a picture appeared in the air. It was of me as a baby,
then a boy and me at the age I am now.
“Why are you showing me this?”
“Keep watching.”
I did what she told me and kept watching the image change. I was now sitting at the same
throne she was sitting at and a bunch of people were standing around me.
“You’re fading?”
“Yes or you could call it dying.”
“But you’re..”
“Already dead, I know. The Otherworld is finally calling to me and someone must take the
throne.”
“And I’m that person?”
“You are but you have three weeks to decide.”
“What will I be doing until I decide?”
“Deciding on whether you will go to the Otherworld, take my throne or choose reincarnation.
You will be among family and friends here.”
“You mean other people that are dead and stuck with a similar choice.”
“I think you will make the right one.”
How she had faith that I would make the right choice, I still have no idea.
Once the three weeks went by, I made my choice. I could sense that she wanted to move on,
to be free. I was ready to accept her throne and take over. She showed me what she does and I felt ready.
Chapter 2:
My first day on the throne wasn't as easy as I thought I would be. Turns out dead people still want a lot of things. But I was willing to help them. The first person was a lady that wanted to send a sign to her family that it was okay to move on from their grieving. I sent a sign, an eagle, that was the lady's favorite animal, flying over her family's home and they understood the sign. The next person wanted to be rich in his death. I gave him his share of land that he could spend with his family when they got here.
Outside the mansion, the souls of the people were enjoying the afterlife or remembering their lives. Many of them were happy to be in a place where they wouldn't be any suffering anymore.
I went outside the mansion and a woman stared at me.
"You're barely out here. I'm surprised to see you."
"I just wanted some air, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just wanted to ask you a question."
"What is it?"
"Is this purgatory or afterlife?"
"This isn't purgatory, this is your side of afterlife."
"I want to go back."
"You want to be alive again?"
"Yes."
"That's not possible."
"Are you sure about that? What about the tales of reincarnation?"
